‘Star Wars’: Disney Revives Temuera Morrison’s Boba Fett With New Series Adaptation

Temuera Morrison has played more characters in Star Wars than almost anyone else.

The New Zealand actor first joined the franchise in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002) as Jango Fett, the bounty hunter whose DNA became the template for the Republic's clone army. He later returned for Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005), reprised his role in The Mandalorian Season 2 (2020), and headlined his own Disney+ series, The Book of Boba Fett (2021).

Boba Fett Returns to Star Wars

Now, after years of uncertainty surrounding his future in the galaxy far, far away, Star Wars has officially confirmed the return of Morrison's most famous character.

Earlier this month, Marvel Comics announced The Book of Boba Fett, a seven-issue comic-book adaptation of the Disney+ series. Rather than continuing the story, the new series will retell the events of the show, with each issue adapting one episode.

The cover artwork also uses the likenesses of Morrison and co-star Ming-Na Wen, who portrayed Fennec Shand throughout the series. Issue #1 arrives on September 9, 2026.

Boba Fett's legacy within Star Wars stretches back decades. Despite having limited screen time in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (1983), the armored bounty hunter became one of the franchise's most popular characters.

For years, Fett dominated novels, comics, toys, and video games, particularly during the Star Wars Legends era.

His return in The Mandalorian Season 2 was one of the most celebrated moments in modern Star Wars, eventually leading to The Book of Boba Fett (2021). However, the series received mixed reviews and has never been renewed for a second season.

Earlier this year, Morrison revealed that he had not been contacted about returning in live action.

While this new comic isn't a continuation, it does ensure that Boba Fett remains part of the franchise's future—even if his next on-screen appearance remains uncertain.
