Walt Disney World Resort has officially announced a permanent change inside Magic Kingdom Park’s Tomorrowland, marking the end of an era for a 31-year-old snack kiosk in the area. The update comes after a months-long refurbishment project that began earlier this year and has now been confirmed to debut under a brand-new name.
The Cool Ship and Cool Scanner kiosk in Tomorrowland first opened in 1994, serving popcorn, soft drinks, and other snacks to guests near the popular Space Mountain attraction. In May 2025, Walt Disney World Resort quietly marked the location as “temporarily closed” on its official website. Soon after, construction walls appeared around the structure, and crews began dismantling the red spaceship-topped kiosk. The ship, which had been a defining feature of the Tomorrowland skyline for decades, was widely reported to have originated as a prop from Disney’s Flight of the Navigator (1986).

Throughout the summer, Magic Kingdom Park guests riding the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover watched as work continued at the site. Concrete was poured for a new foundation, and by September, a fresh kiosk structure was delivered and installed. However, Walt Disney World Resort remained silent on what would replace the Cool Ship—until now.
On October 27, 2025, Walt Disney World Resort officially updated its website, revealing that the location’s new identity would be AstroFizz. The reimagined snack stand will be sponsored by Coca-Cola and will feature an intergalactic theme consistent with the futuristic energy of Tomorrowland.

The new menu features popcorn, Coca-Cola beverages, and a variety of drinks, including Fanta Orange, Coca-Cola, and Fanta Blue Raspberry Frozen Slushies. A standout addition to the menu is the Cherry Cola Churro, described as a “churro rolled in cherry sugar, drizzled with Coca-Cola Cherry icing, and topped with cherry popping candies.”

According to Walt Disney World Resort’s website, AstroFizz will also offer cotton candy and Coca-Cola Fountain Beverages. The official location description reads: “Fuel up at this space-age stand featuring buttery popcorn and fluffy cotton candy. Then, before you blast off again, cool off with a refreshing beverage—like frozen slushies or assorted Coca-Cola® Fountain Beverages.”
Walt Disney World Resort also shared the following social media teaser for the new Quick Service dining location: “Prepare for snack liftoff in 3…2…1 ???? AstroFizz is coming soon to #MagicKingdom!”

While an official opening date has not yet been announced, Disney has confirmed that AstroFizz will debut “later this year.” As of publication, the Walt Disney World Resort calendar is updated through December 26, 2025, and AstroFizz is currently listed as “no times available” through that date.
