Disney Typhoon Lagoon Refurbishment

There has been a changing of the [Life] Guard at The Walt Disney World Resort recently, as Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park closed for refurbishments and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park finally reopened.

But when Blizzard Beach reopened, Disney unveiled some new characters now included in the Park. The melting ski Resort now has a touch of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen franchise.

Disney stated in its press release,

“The new Frozen features will be part of the kid-sized thrills of Tike’s Peak that’s popular among young guests who will delight in the statuettes of Olaf and his Snowgie pals in the warm wading pool, as well as Anna and Elsa’s igloo castle.”

While it arguably makes perfect sense to have Olaf and his friends integrated into the snowy landscape, one has to wonder if Blizzard Beach’s sister Park will have a similar renovation and feature a more permanent level of Disney Movie IP.

It should be noted that no official IP additions have been confirmed for Typhoon Lagoon at this time. But as the Frozen additions to Blizzard Beach came as a surprise to a lot of people, it is not that far out of the realm of possibility that movie franchises such as Lilo & Stitch, The Little Mermaid, or even Pixar’s Luca could find a permanent home there.
