In the age of the Me Too movement, people are realizing that women have been silent for far too long because they were scared that no one would believe them. That is especially true for women who were assaulted by powerful men like Harvey Weinstein. Now that people are finally listening, more and more women are coming forward to tell their stories.

In 2017, celebrated composer Danny Elfman was accused by pianist and composer Nomi Abadi of sexually assaulting her in 2015 and 2016. Abadi filed her complaint in 2017, claiming that Elfman masturbated in front of her multiple times. Elfman categorically denied all of Abadi’s allegations. He said that she had a crush on him and was using sexual misconduct allegations to try to break up his marriage because she was jealous.

Despite his denials, Elfman reportedly agreed to settle with Abadi for $830,000. Abadi said that she felt pressured to accept the settlement — and the non-disclosure agreement that went with it. However, on July 19, the pianist filed a lawsuit against Elfman with the Los Angeles Superior Court, claiming that Elfman had failed to pay the charities she directed the money to.

Now, it looks like Elfman’s problems are about to get worse. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Elfman is now being accused of sexual assault by a second woman. Per THR:

According to the complaint, the plaintiff met Elfman at a party in April of 1997 while she was a 21-year-old student at the New York Film Academy and Elfman was 47, and he began inviting her to industry events, asking her opinions on films and music and treating her as “a consultant and protegé.”

Over the next five years, according to the complaint, when the plaintiff and Elfman were alone together, Elfman “removed all of his clothing until he was completely nude, and walked around nude in front of Plaintiff, exposing his genitals. Defendant Elfman expressed to Plaintiff that this was the only way he could work, be creative, and successful.” Due to Elfman’s prominence in the entertainment industry, the plaintiff felt “she had no choice but to always comply with his requests, and Plaintiff felt this was a condition of their continued relationship.”

The now 47-year-old woman claims that she even stayed at Elfman’s while she was looking for an apartment in Los Angeles. She claims that he would make her sleep in the same bed, but she would sleep on top of the covers, completely clothed. She alleges that Elfman would sleep naked next to her and admitted that he would masturbate next to her once she fell asleep.

The unnamed woman said that she felt compelled to reach out to Abadi’s lawyer when she first saw her story in a 2018 issue of Rolling Stone. Abadi’s lawyer, Jeff Anderson, said that he spoke to the woman and her story was very similar to Abadi’s. He said that Mr. Elfman took advantage of these women because they wanted so badly to have music careers in Hollywood, and he had the ability to make that happen.

Jane Doe XX — the name used in the lawsuit — is seeking damages “including but not limited to medical and incidental expenses and loss of earnings.” Jane Doe XX is suing Mr. Elfman and his company Musica de la Muerta for sexual assault, gender violence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, sexual harassment, and negligence. The amount she is seeking has not been shared.

Elfman has not responded to these latest claims against him. However, he is still scheduled to perform at The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 27, 28, and 29. His appearance is part of the Hollywood Bowl’s annual Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas In Concert.
