When the last sparks fly on the night of April 2, 2023, Harmonious will officially end its tenure at EPCOT’s World Showcase Lagoon, along with Disney Enchantment Over at Magic Kingdom Park. While a return run of EPCOT forever was announced, it will only remain as a filler show while Walt Disney Imagineering gets a brand new epic spectacular ready.
But Disney Parks has kept us in the dark about what the new permanent EPCOT Fireworks show would be, until today.

According to Theme Park Insider Scott Gustin, “The show will feature an original composition and evocative selections from the Disney songbook — all woven together to remind us that we are more alike than different.” While we still do not have a name, we were graced with some concept art viewable below.

What does seem clear is that the days of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth and an EPCOT with no or very little Disney Movie integration are done. And just like Harmonious and EPCOT Forever, there will be a medley of Disney songs that will liken the new phenomenon more and more to Happily Ever After shot above Cinderella Castle.
This new concept art also appears to confirm that this new show will not require the use of massive barges like its predecessor that are promised to serve as fantastic fountains during the day and instead pose as eyesores merely sit in the middle of the lagoon.

Harmonious’ replacement was originally announced during the D23 Expo last September, confirming the show will be retired with the end of the Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th Anniversary Celebration. It was in January, with the announcement of Happily Ever After’s Return, that Disney Parks confirmed the return of EPCOT Forever, which this writer suspects was due to a delay in the completion of this mysterious masterpiece.
There are still a lot of unknowns surrounding EPCOT’s new fireworks show. But we at Disney Fanatic will continue to monitor the story and will update our readers as more developments come to light.
