Update Suggests Disney Compensating for Genie+ Performance

Disney fans have submitted many complaints about the Disney experience after the inception of the new Disney Genie Service and its Genie+ Lightning Lane feature, and it looks like Walt Disney World Resort has picked up on the problems with the new Disney Genie service!

There is now a new line written in the descriptions on the Walt Disney World Genie+ Lightning Lane website: “On average, Guests can enter 2 to 3 attractions or experiences per day using the Lightning Lane entrance if the first selection is made early in the day”, the website entry says.

The downgrade to “average” is a far cry from the usual Disney vocabulary; instead of a Guest experience filled with Disney magic, the expectation now seems to be that Disney Guests can hope for an “average” of “2 to 3 attractions” at best — so long as they’ve made the “first selection” early enough.

Interestingly enough, the Disneyland Resort website doesn’t include the same wording in its disclaimers and statements about Genie+. Instead, the description of the Genie+ Lightning Lane service on the Disneyland Resort website says the following: “When you take your day to the next level by purchasing Disney Genie+ service, you can select the next available arrival window for Lightning Lane entrances at select attractions, one at a time, all day long.”

It’s been speculated that Walt Disney World Resort is also hedging its bets with disclaimers about average performance in order to avoid paying refunds to any Disney World Guests who are dissatisfied with their Disney experience.

Some popular Disney World attractions that now cost $15 per individual attraction selection as part of the Disney Genie+ service are Space Mountain in the Magic Kingdom Disney Park, Frozen Ever After within the Norway Pavilion of the EPCOT World Showcase, and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway within the Hollywood Studios Disney Park.

The Disney Stars at Red Carpet Dreams character meet and greet opportunity and the Disney World Resort Festival of Fantasy Parade have also been switched from their Individual Lightning Lane selection attraction status and added to the Genie+ Lightning Lane roster.

Many avid Disney fans have been disappointed by the shift away from FastPasses, and this Disney experience discontent has just been the tip of the iceberg compared to a lot of other Disney fans’ grievances in recent months. The Walt Disney Company has upset many of its Guests and fans with higher ticket prices (which many Disney Guests attribute to Disney CEO Bob Chapek), and Disney has also received a lot of negative feedback for its part in recent political machinations. Many Disney visitors also seem to feel that the overall Disney experience has decreased in quality.

Have you had any positive or negative experiences with the Disney Genie service, the Lightning Lane feature that’s replaced FastPass, or Genie+ as a Disney World Guest or a Disneyland Guest?
