Guests staying at one of Disneyland Resort’s onsite hotels were met with a surprise on Monday morning: the dedicated entrance from Pixar Place Hotel to Disney California Adventure Park is now closed. The exclusive Disney Park entrance is expected to remain inaccessible through mid-June.
The abrupt closure comes just as the private entrance from Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa reopens after being closed for turnstile upgrades. While that project has concluded, the same improvements are now being applied to the Pixar Place Hotel entrance. The result: hundreds of guests who typically enjoy the convenience of entering Disney California Adventure Park through their Disney Resort hotel must now find another route.
According to theme park journalist Scott Gustin (@ScottGustin) on X (formerly Twitter):
NEW: Pixar Place Hotel’s dedicated entrance to Disney California Adventure Park is closed starting today through through mid-June while crews install new turnstiles.
Disney says: “During this time, Guests may access the park through an alternate entrance located in Disney’s Grand California Hotel & Spa, near GCH Craftsman Bar and Grill.”

The closure is part of Disneyland Resort’s larger phased effort to upgrade turnstile systems across Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. The upgraded “tapstiles” feature modern amenities like facial recognition, digital displays, and touchless entry, replacing the older barcode scanners and metal turnstiles. Until the new systems are fully operational, Disney cast members will assist guests by scanning tickets and MagicBands using tablets and mobile devices.
Since late 2024, phased construction has been underway at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park to modernize entry systems while minimizing guest disruption. This closure affects only the dedicated path from Pixar Place Hotel, not the main theme park gates. Still, for guests hoping to take advantage of the convenience of Disney Resort hotel-exclusive access, the closure may alter morning plans or park entry routines.
Disneyland Resort hasn’t announced an exact reopening date for the entrance at Pixar Place Hotel beyond “mid-June.” Stay tuned to Disney Fanatic for updates.
