Guests got more than they bargained for during this Disney ride evacuation…

Ride stops on Walt Disney World attractions are a common occurrence. Many dark rides in the theme park rely on the lights being off to generate immersion. When a ride needs to be evacuated, it is almost certain the lights will come on, giving guests a sense of ease as they wait to be taken off the carts.

However, it is not every day that you realize a Disney World attraction is just as horrifying with the lights on. During a recent Disney DINOSAUR ride evacuation, some visitors to Animal Kingdom in Orlando found that light offered no relief from the terror of prehistoric animatronics.

Triassic Terror

The DINOSAUR ride, nestled within the DinoLand U.S.A. section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, transports brave souls back to the Late Cretaceous period, just before the dinosaurs met their fateful demise. Combining elements of a dark ride and a motion simulator, this attraction has delighted and terrified Guests since its inception.

Throughout the ride, daring adventurers board “Time Rovers,” remarkable vehicles designed for time travel. These intrepid explorers embark on a mission to rescue Aladar, an Iguanodon, and bring it safely back to the present. Along the way, riders encounter an array of audio-animatronic dinosaurs, including the formidable Carnotaurus and giant prehistoric beasts.

Disney DINOSAUR Ride Evacuation

One visitor to Disney’s Animal Kingdom recently went on Twitter to show people the horrors of the DINOSAUR ride during an evacuation. The rider explains that they stopped at two spots before the lights turned on, bathing the terrifying dinosaur animatronics in light. However, this did nothing to ease their stress as riders had to sit there with no exit for quite some time.

Aside from the obvious visual fear, the DINOSAUR ride is known for being quite loud. We can’t imagine it would be a fun experience to sit there trapped in a cart as the gigantic creatures roared repeatedly.

It is unknown how long this guest had to wait next to the Carnotaurus animatronic, hoping for an escape. They did reply soon after the initial tweet that they had still not been escorted to an exit. From the looks of things, the endearing Aladar provided no comfort during the stay either.

Rumors have circulated that the DINOSAUR ride will close soon as the DinoLand U.S.A area transforms into a new theme. However, we have yet to hear any update on this as of now. The ride remains one of the few horrifying experiences on Disney World property. Now we can also confirm that it’s just as scary with the lights on!
