Recently, a Disney guest shared their frustration about an unpleasant encounter during the pre-show of one of EPCOT’s most popular rides, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. This ride, known for its unique storytelling and thrilling experience, has quickly become a fan favorite since its opening. However, the excitement of the attraction can sometimes be overshadowed by disruptive behavior, as one guest discovered during their visit.
Walt Disney World in Florida is one of the most magical places on Earth, drawing millions of visitors every year to experience its world-class attractions and enchanting atmosphere. For most guests, a trip to Disney is all about making memories, enjoying time with family and friends, and soaking up the fun-filled environment that only Disney can provide.
However, even in this magical setting, things don’t always go perfectly. With thousands of people visiting the parks daily, it’s inevitable that not all interactions will be ideal, and sometimes guests may encounter behavior that can ruin the moment.
The Magic of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
For those unfamiliar, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is a one-of-a-kind roller coaster that blends the excitement of a high-speed ride with the humor and adventure of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The attraction is located at EPCOT’s World Discovery and has been a huge hit since its debut. Featuring an innovative queue system, the experience begins long before you board the coaster.
As guests make their way through the queue, they enter the Galaxarium, a stunning space where the Xandarians (from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy) share their knowledge of Earth, which they refer to as “Terra.” The queue then progresses to an interactive pre-show experience where guests meet beloved characters like Rocket Raccoon, Peter Quill, Gamora, Drax, and Groot. The pre-show serves as both a setup for the ride’s storyline and an opportunity for guests to enjoy the witty banter and humor that the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is known for.
The pre-show is often a highlight for guests, building anticipation for the ride ahead. However, as one visitor recently shared, it can also be the scene of disruptive behavior that diminishes the enjoyment for everyone in the room.
A Frustrating Encounter During the Cosmic Rewind Pre-Show
A Disney fan took to social media to share their experience with disruptive guests during the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind pre-show. Posting on the r/WaltDisneyWorld subreddit, user @such_competition1503 explained how their much-anticipated trip to EPCOT with their significant other was tainted by inappropriate behavior during the pre-show.
The post described how a group of grown adults began acting out during the pre-show, ruining the moment for everyone in the room. The behavior included shouting obscenities, clapping loudly, and even intentionally bumping into other guests in the room. The user wrote:
“During the first pre-show, this guy just starts yelling at the screen. In the next room, he and another group start yelling ‘p**s’ at the top of their lungs, then just start clapping as loud as they can. They continued to yell and started running around, bumping into people in queue before boarding. It completely ruined the pre-show for my significant other.”
This type of behavior, while not entirely common, is not unheard of at Disney parks. Many fans on the subreddit chimed in, expressing frustration over similar experiences, particularly at EPCOT, where the park’s “drinking culture” has been known to lead to rowdy behavior. One user commented, “As much as I love Cosmic Rewind and EPCOT, I will never go at night again. People cannot handle their booze, and it is embarrassing.”
EPCOT is known for its more mature offerings compared to other Disney parks, with festivals like the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival providing guests the opportunity to sample beverages from around the world. While these experiences are a major draw for many adult Disney fans, they can also lead to incidents where alcohol consumption results in disruptive behavior, particularly in the evenings.
The connection between alcohol and inappropriate behavior in EPCOT has been a topic of discussion among Disney fans for years. While it’s not always the cause, many have noted that some guests may overindulge and become rowdy, leading to unpleasant encounters like the one described by @such_competition1503.
However, it’s important to note that not all disruptive behavior is related to alcohol. Sometimes, it’s simply a matter of guests forgetting that they’re in a shared space where others are trying to enjoy their experience. Disney parks are meant to be family-friendly environments, and acting out—whether from excitement, immaturity, or other factors—can take away from the magic for other visitors.
Disney Cast Members and Enforcing the Rules
One of the major concerns raised by the user was the apparent lack of intervention from Disney Cast Members during the pre-show. The guest wondered why the disruptive group wasn’t addressed or removed, especially since the behavior persisted throughout the pre-show and into the queue for the ride.
Other users on the subreddit echoed this sentiment, asking why Cast Members weren’t present in the pre-show rooms to monitor behavior. While Disney is known for its attentive Cast Members, there are limits to what they can do, particularly in larger or more crowded areas. However, some fans believe that Disney should take a firmer stance on inappropriate behavior, especially when it disrupts the experience for others.
In some cases, guests who engage in disruptive behavior may be escorted out of the park or asked to leave the attraction. However, as one commenter pointed out, Disney often only takes action when the situation escalates to physical altercations or other serious incidents. While verbal disruptions and rowdy behavior may not always warrant removal, it’s clear that many guests believe more should be done to protect the enjoyment of all park visitors.
How to Handle Disruptive Behavior at Disney
If you find yourself in a situation where another guest’s behavior is negatively affecting your Disney experience, there are a few steps you can take:
- Alert a Cast Member: If possible, try to find a nearby Cast Member and explain the situation. They may be able to intervene or address the disruptive behavior.
- Stay Calm: It can be frustrating when someone else’s behavior ruins the moment, but it’s important to stay calm and not let the situation escalate. Remember that Disney is a place of joy, and staying level-headed will help you enjoy the rest of your day.
- Focus on the Positive: While a single incident can be frustrating, try to focus on the positive aspects of your Disney trip. There’s so much magic to be found in the parks, and one bad moment doesn’t have to ruin your entire day.
- Consider Timing: As some users mentioned, visiting EPCOT at night during festivals or busy times may increase the likelihood of encountering rowdy behavior. If possible, try visiting attractions like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind earlier in the day for a more relaxed experience.
Disney parks are designed to be places where guests can escape the stresses of the real world and immerse themselves in a world of fantasy and wonder. However, as with any public space, it’s essential for everyone to respect the magic and be mindful of how their behavior affects those around them.
If you’re planning a trip to EPCOT and looking forward to experiencing Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, remember that Disney’s magic thrives on the joy and consideration of its visitors. By keeping the atmosphere fun and respectful, we can all ensure that everyone enjoys the unforgettable moments that make Disney parks truly special.

the drinking is why we rarely go to Epcot and especially on weekends………..Cant stand people that think they can drink and ruin things for others
BS. It is on the company providing the service to ensure that said service is provided in a safe manner. The guest shouldn’t be required to put up with nonsense like this, and TBH, if Disney won’t do anything, start calling 911 to report it (just like you would if you were out in a normal establishment). Then take some video (if you haven’t already) and demand your money back from Disney.
Well, unfortunately people wanted the ability to consume alcohol while visiting Disney parks and this is the outcome. Cast members can only do so much and unfortunately, usually by the time security responds to the location, those obnoxious guest are usually long gone. The smart thing is to (in a nice manner) ask for a re-ride right away and explain the situation. Alway’s do your best to get the cast member’s name that may have been present during the situation.
