Disney Drops New Details (and Treats) for Highly-Anticipated Summer Show

What would happen if the leader of the Avengers led a kickline? Thanks to this Disney Park, you’ll be able to get that answer on June 30.

While it’s not confirmed a kickline is featured in the show, it’s certain that Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, will be the frontman in an all-new musical called “Rogers: The Musical.” Depicting Captain America’s origins story from humble beginnings during World War II to his rise as the Avengers’ leading man, the interactive performance will feature household names like Nick Fury and Peggy Carter.

Launching as part of the Disney100 celebration, “Rogers: The Musical” will converge classic Avengers themes for Marvel fans and musical stylings for Broadway enthusiasts. According to Disney Parks Blog, the show highlights “universal themes of heroism, romance, and self-discovery.” Headed to Disney California Adventure Park in 10 days, let’s take a super swoop into the latest details on the musical.

Seats, Treats, and All the Deets

What’s a musical without chart-topping music? Inspired by the fictional Broadway musical theater sequence featured in the Disney+ series “Hawkeye,” “Rogers: The Musical” will be powered by lyrical heavy-hitters like Alan Menken, David Zippel, Christopher Lennertz, Jordan Peterson, Alex Karukas, Marc Shaiman, and Scott Wittman. According to Disney Parks Blog, here’s what to expect:

Five all-new songs with music by Grammy-winning composer Christopher Lennertz and lyrics by Jordan Peterson, Christopher Lennertz and Alex Karukas. Plus, fan-favorites songs ‘Save The City’ from the Disney+ series ‘Hawkeye’ (written by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman), and ‘Star Spangled Man’ from the film ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ (written by Alan Menken and David Zippel).   

While “Rogers: The Musical” will land at the Hyperion Theater for a good time, it won’t run for a long time. At the site that featured fan-favorite shows like “Frozen-Live at the Hyperion” and “Disney’s Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular,” the newest musical will hit the stage from June 30, 2023, to August 31, 2023.

Because “Rogers: The Musical” is a limited-time offering, the Disneyland Resort recommends Guests do the following:

  • Download the Disneyland app.
  • Book the virtual queue starting at 10:30 a.m. PT for the first two show times.
  • Book the virtual queue starting at 2:00 p.m. PT for the remaining show times.
  • Check the Hyperion Theater before the musical begins for walk-up viewing (if the virtual queue is unavailable).

No super stint is complete without some tasty snacks, and “Rogers: The Musical” is serving up a cherry, vanilla, and blue raspberry shake, sausage and pepperoni wrap, pastrami pretzel dog, and a “Rogers: The Musical” popcorn bucket with red, white, and blue kettle corn.

To round out your Captain America experience, you can wield the patriotic shield in two Magic Shots from the Disney PhotoPass service for a limited time. With the iconic shield, Avengers merch, and singing “superheroes, “Roger”: The Musical” is primed to be America’s premiere performance.
