The new Snow White movie will star West Side Story actress Rachel Zegler and Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot — but unfortunately, Rachel Zegler has alienated Disney Princess fans repeatedly, and now it seems like the opposition to her version of the Snow White fairy tale has reached the point of no return!
A Promising Start, But…
Rachel Zegler won over audiences while playing Maria in the new version of the West Side Story musical, but the young singer and actress has come across many obstacles in the Disney-loving community after she was cast in the role of the original Disney Princess, Snow White, from the 1937 animated movie called Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
The Backlash Continues
Zegler has made headlines in the Disney Fanatic world several times lately, with the most noteworthy conflicts involving her demand to be paid “for every hour that [the new movie] is streaming on Disney+” and her desire for the new Snow White to pivot away from any form of romance.
Since many Disney fans love the romances between Disney Princesses and Disney Princes — regardless of this feminist debate — the idea of a Snow White who shunned romance was startling to some Disney Fanatics and downright polarizing to others.
Even Gal Gadot, the usually-popular Israeli actress who is playing the Evil Queen, has been facing some backlash for her new Disney role — and the controversy involving the new versions of Snow White’s seven dwarfs hasn’t helped, either!

Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot recently spoke about the upcoming Disney movie in the interview shown above on TikTok, and Zegler revealed in the interview that she thinks of the original Disney Princess film as an “extremely dated” movie.
This has only further solidified some Disney fans’ opposition to her casting in the new Snow White, even though Zegler’s and Gadot’s points in the interview seem to be valid!

“I will NOT be watching this movie cause this chick is annoying. LEAVE MY SNOW WHITE ALONE!!!!” another disgruntled Disney Princess fan wrote in response.
One Disney fan shared her disdain for Rachel Zegler on X (formerly known as Twitter) in the Tweet shown below, quoting Zegler (who said “it’s not 1937” when discussing Disney’s modern updates for Snow White).
“We absolutely made another woke Disney movie that’s going to flop,” the Disney fan added to Zegler’s quote.
