For years now, EPCOT has quietly ended its evenings earlier than fans would like. Gone were the days of wandering the World Showcase late into the night, sipping on a final drink or catching an extra show. Instead, the park became known for its consistent 9 p.m. shutdowns—a trend that started after the pandemic and never really let up.

But that streak is about to end, and guests couldn’t be happier.
Extended Hours Return
Beginning November 28, EPCOT will officially stay open until 9:30 p.m. nightly during the Festival of the Holidays. The change lasts through December 30 and comes at a perfect time, as the Candlelight Processional requires a little breathing room to fit seamlessly into the evening. With the final performance ending near the fireworks, the later closing ensures the night flows more naturally for guests.

A Small Change With Big Meaning
On paper, 30 minutes doesn’t sound like much. In practice, though, it restores something fans have been missing: the ability to soak in EPCOT’s nighttime atmosphere without a countdown clock ticking in the background. Spaceship Earth glowing against the dark sky, the bustling walkways of World Showcase, and the chance to enjoy one last bite or drink—these are the little moments people have long associated with EPCOT nights.

Since 2020, Disney has leaned on efficiency, citing easier staffing and smoother operations. But fans often felt like that efficiency came at the expense of the park’s magic. Extending the hours shows that Disney recognizes how important those extra minutes can be.
Holiday Extras to Enjoy
This year’s holiday season at EPCOT is already packed with offerings beyond the extended hours. The Candlelight Processional remains the star, but guests can also look forward to JOYFUL! A Celebration of the Season at the CommuniCore Plaza Stage. Holiday storytellers, themed food, and festive character encounters add to the lineup, making EPCOT one of the best seasonal stops in Disney World.

What It Could Mean for the Future
For now, the 9:30 p.m. closure is seasonal and tied specifically to the Festival of the Holidays. Whether Disney expands this into 10 p.m. closings—or makes late nights a more regular thing—remains to be seen. Still, this is a clear break from the early closure streak, and that’s enough to fuel optimism.
Guests planning holiday trips should circle their calendars. Thirty extra minutes may not sound monumental, but when you’re sipping cocoa under the fireworks, it feels like EPCOT is finally giving back a piece of the magic it had been holding back.
