Disney Genie and Disney Genie+ Are Coming to Disneyland This Week

The new Disney Genie service is coming to Disneyland Resort, and the arrival date is sooner than many Disney fanatics would have expected! The service will arrive to the Resort on December 8th, less than two days from now. According to the Disney Parks Blog, this service will be “built right into the existing Disneyland app“.

Although reactions to the Disney Genie have been mixed at Walt Disney World Resort (where it’s already been implemented earlier this year) since it replaced the FastPass system, the blog post says that the Disney Genie service’s “personalized itinerary creator” will help “you make the most of your park time so you can have more fun”! Highlights of that feature include “a personal tip board to see your favorite attractions and dining options in one central place” as well as “forecasted future attraction wait times”. The Disney Genie service will also adjust to suit “your existing plans, like dining reservations”!

The Lightning Lane, which allows Guests to get onto rides faster, is also being brought to Disneyland Resort. New signs are already being put into place at certain attractions, and you can either purchase Disney Genie+ (which “will be available for $20 per ticket per day”), or you can take advantage of the “new ‘a la carte’ option [that] allows the individual purchase of Lightning Lane entrance arrival windows for some of [the] most popular attractions”. Some of those attractions are Radiator Springs Racers, WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure at Disney California Adventure Park, and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

Apparently “pricing for the ‘a la carte’ option will vary by date and attraction”. You can keep checking the Disneyland app during your visit to see updated pricing for the available Lightning Lane attraction entrance arrival windows. If you use this method, then “you may purchase the next available arrival window, one at a time, for up to two (2) attractions per day upon entering a theme park”. There will still be a traditional standby queue (or a virtual queue if applicable) for anyone who doesn’t want to pay for Genie+ and who doesn’t want to sort through individual Lightning Lanes during their Disney day, too!

According to the following Tweets from Scott Gustin, the prices for individual Lightning Lane tickets will range from 7 to 20 dollars. Remember, you’ll only be able to buy Genie+ once you’ve started your day inside the Park, at least until December 8th! More information about this service can be found at Disneyland.com/Genie.
