Any seasoned Disney World or Disneyland Guest can tell you that Disney Fanatics are often emotional folk (and we suspect that Disney-loving people who are visiting international Disney Parks can be passionate about Disney, too), so crying on a Disney Park day might not seem strange to some readers.
However, one Disneyland Guest’s recent tear-filled Disney visit did shock some onlookers and led to backlash!
Space Mountain? No Thank You!
TikTok user @tho_ph25 recently shared footage from her trip to Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, asking her followers if any of them typically cried a lot after experiencing Disney rides.
The Disneyland Guest tried out rides like Pirates of the Caribbean and Soarin’, but she seemed upset by Space Mountain in particular.
The Disney Guest (who is named Tho) did not complain about physical aches and pains from Disney’s more intense roller coasters (unlike many older Disney Guests, who have referred to rides like the Matterhorn Bobsleds ride as “murder”) — instead, she seemed shaken by the plunging drops on the roller coasters.
Tho was unnerved and teary-eyed at several points during her visit, and resorted to prayer while experiencing Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT!
“I Closed My Eyes and Prayed”
“I closed my eyes and prayed the whole time,” she said on TikTok. Some TikTok users told Tho that she was being “overdramatic” and that she needed to “grow up.”
We saw similar criticisms being aimed at Disney Adults for their enthusiastic tears, especially during Character Meet and Greets — but because Tho’s discomfort and tears seemed to mainly stem from stress due to the dark rides and roller coaster drops, some people did actually help by sharing their own struggles with being overstimulated in Disney World or Disneyland.
@tho_ph25 Pls tell me I am not the only one who cried in Disneyland 🙂#disneyland #disneylandvlog #travelvlogs #disneylandrides
Panic Attacks, Nausea, and Trauma? Oh My!
“People on the internet are mean,” one supportive follower wrote in a comment. “[I’m] glad you tried things!! even if you [didn’t] quite enjoy them, you did experience them.”
Other former Disney Guests mentioned being “traumatized” from Disney’s drop-focused rides, and several of Tho’s supporters complained about the Guardians of the Galaxy ride.
“I had a panic attack riding [the] guardians of the galaxy ride,” one person wrote.
“I almost passed out on guardians and almost threw up,” another Disney visitor chimed in. “I felt horrible.”
