Guests are reporting backaches and neck pain on a classic Disney ride — and according to some Disneyland fans, the aches and pains caused by this ride border on murderous!
The Disneyland ride known as Matterhorn Bobsleds is a classic Disneyland theme park roller coaster that has existed for more than 60 years (and that became Disneyland’s first thrill ride).
What’s the Real Danger Here?
The Fantasyland roller coaster takes passengers on a trip through the Swiss Alps, which includes a dangerous encounter with Harold the Yeti or Abominable Snowman (and yes, this ride’s parallel in Disney World is Expedition Everest).
Even though Harold the Yeti might be the intended threat on the roller coaster, there is apparently a sneakier danger that presents itself after riding the Matterhorn. Disneyland Guests have begun complaining about aches and pains following their time as Matterhorn Bobsleds passengers!
“My Back Can’t Handle It” – Disney Classic Ride Dubbed “Absolute Murder”
According to Twitter user Eric Ansley Diaz (@GeekBoyEric), “If the Matterhorn hurts in your 30s, it’s absolute murder in your 40s.”
Internet users (and perhaps Disney fans) can be prone to exaggeration, so the Matterhorn Bobsleds ride is not necessarily murdering its passengers — but for anyone with vulnerabilities like back pain due to injuries or old age, this Disneyland ride can certainly be uncomfortable!
“I realized last time I went on it, it was likely the last time. My back can’t handle it anymore,” the aforementioned Disneyland guest admitted. “I’ll just have to take comfort in my fond memories of the Yeti.”
Disneyland’s Matterhorn Bobsleds ride is definitely a bumpy ride with lots of sharp turns and abrupt changes or stops, but it is certainly not the only theme park roller coaster to cause physical pain for passengers — and at least the side effects for this Disney ride don’t involve nausea and vomiting like this EPCOT roller coaster’s side effects reportedly do!
Are you over the age of 30, and still a fan of the Matterhorn? If you’re over 40 and still enjoy the Matterhorn Bobsled ride, do you find that you’re sore or injured after the experience? Tell us about it in the comments below!
