The biggest attraction of one of Disney’s oldest water rides is its dry humor. The world-famous Jungle Cruise is an indisputable fan favorite, debuting in 1955 at Disneyland Park and premiering as a fixture in Magic Kingdom when Walt Disney World opened its gates.
Although there are no thrilling drops, turns, or splashes on the boat tour through the world’s most exotic rivers, there are pundreds of—well, puns. Dad-joke lovers can’t get enough of the quips rolled out by Jungle Cruise skippers. Frankly, they rock—and no Disney Guest takes them for granite.
Speaking of rocks, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson helped immortalize the Disney attraction with a film named Jungle Cruise in 2021. Portraying skipper Frank Wolff opposite Emily Blunt as Dr. Lily Houston, the pair depicted famous scenes from the epic ride.
Walt Disney’s Pun-derful Legacy
With no height requirement and barely any updates in the last several decades, how does Jungle Cruise continue to draw Disney crowds?
It’s likely the quintessential Disney touch that Walt left on the attraction. When Jungle Cruise first docked in Disneyland, the ride based on Disney’s award-winning True-Life Adventures films was educational. In the 1960s, Walt Disney asked animator Marc Davis to draw up some uncontested gags for the Cast Members to use on the ride, and the rest is Disney history.
Not only have Disney Guests fallen in love with said gags, but a Guest initiated an internet search for a boisterous Cast Member who flawlessly delivered them. On Reddit, Disney Guest u/Recarica shared a tidbit from her iconic Jungle Cruise tour guide:
Has anyone had a Jungle Cruise tour with Malina (I think that is her name). It was like our boat was hijacked by Audrey Plaza’s more diabolical sister. It was freaking hilarious. This woman has to be a comedy writer. If you know her, is she a standup comic? If so, my husband and I want to see a show.

The post ignited a punderstorm of Disney Guests sharing similar experiences with the Cast Member in question and the Jungle Cruise’s famous gags.
Stand-Up Cast Member
With comedic chops that could go on for Niles and Niles, Redditors like u/Recarica immediately knew who the original poster was referencing:
YES! Who the eff is she? I got some of her on film but I ruined every take with my laughing.
Another commenter, u/ParanoidKidAndroid, shared a similar experience with the presumed Cast Member, detailing a “common” bit that was taken one step further on their Jungle Cruise boat:
Not sure if it’s the same girl but the guide I had last summer cracked me up more than ever. When we came to the underside of the waterfall she said “it’s the otherside of water (common) but the just went wild screaming “yea, YEA, YEAAAAHHH” like her favorite team won the championship and I about fell out of the boat laughing 😂. She totally committed to the bit and it was awesome hahaha
Piling on to the love for Malina, u/shinyegg added:
YES SHE IS AMAZING I never thought I needed an Aubrey plaza read of jungle cruise and now I want nothing else. 11/10.
With sarcasm, dead-pan delivery, and classic Disney puns, the Jungle Cruise Cast Members continue to deliver Walt Disney’s vision for the emblematic ride. Cruising through Disney Parks since 1955, we have a feeling Disney Guests will always be on board with the puns from Jungle Cruise.
