Have you ever traveled to Walt Disney World with a teenager? Or go anywhere in public with a teenager? If you have, you know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t, you will soon learn what that is like.
No matter what you do, you have done something embarrassing. Ask about the weather; you’re embarrassing them. Ask about their day; you’re embarrassing them. As a parent, it can be disheartening, but as someone looking for a solution to Disney problems, it’s an opportunity.
You have probably noticed that guests at Disney World have gotten out of control. Whether it be fighting in Magic Kingdom or exiting a ride in EPCOT, you know, just because. People have been acting foolish lately. It’s easy to say that they’re just trying to get clicks on social media, but sometimes people do stupid things, even at Walt Disney World.
Well, I’ve come up with a solution to this problem that will allow all of us to enjoy our vacation.
Disney’s rival in California, Knott’s Berry Farm, instituted a ban on anyone under 17 entering the park without being accompanied by an adult. That makes sense, but what if it’s the adults causing the trouble?
To combat this problem, Disney should institute travel with a teen policy to keep rowdy adults in line.
Think about it, the next time a drunk fool gets out of a ride; there will be a teenager there to tell them, “I’d rather you didn’t do that.” The next time someone tries to jump on a parade float, a teenager will be there to say, “That’s just not cool.” Or something like that; I’m not sure what exactly they say.
But this could work! You use teenagers to shame adults into behaving properly. And there’s an added advantage: those of you with teenagers can lend out your kids for a few hours to keep other adults in line. You get a few hours without being ridiculed, and they get someone new to roll their eyes at. Sounds like a win-win to me.
This allows every family to enjoy the rides and attractions and forces everyone to follow the rules. And for those particularly unruly adults, you can give you multiple teens and maybe some of their friends.
Think of how much better a theme park visit will be without explaining to your little ones why an adult is spilling alcohol all over themselves at restaurants.
So, we have plenty of options available to act as chaperones to adults who can’t follow the rules in the Parks. You can thank me later. And teens, just keep being you at the Walt Disney World Resort. Enjoy.
