Walt Disney World may be known for bringing smiles to children’s faces, but it is also the perfect place to spice up a relationship and bring on the romance. Spending time at the happiest place on earth can be a fantastic way to be romantic and fall in love all over again. Whether you travel with just your other half, or are looking for a night out without the kids, here are ten ways to spend a romantic evening at the Walt Disney World Resort.
10. Surprise Your Partner With a Disney Treat
The Disney floral and gift department makes magic happen with incredible décor and gifts. Choose from an array of floral arrangements, and packages that include rose petals, engraved wine glasses, bottles of wine, cookies, frames, deluxe trinkets, and even a gorgeous glass slipper (usually used for proposals). Speaking of proposals, what better way to spend a romantic evening than asking the one you love to spend the rest of their life with you? There are so many beautiful locations around the four parks and resorts to plan the perfect evening proposal. Whether you’re looking for a more intimate setting or wanting to shout it out to the world, there are a plethora of places to share this special moment. Luckily, there are also several photographers to capture the moment for you! This is a for sure way to guarantee that happiness will be overflowing through your evening and for the rest of your Disney vacation.
9. Stay at a Deluxe Resort
Deluxe resorts are not only luxurious; they also offer a beautiful, elegant setting that tends to attract more of an adult crowd, and a plethora of activities to indulge in. Enjoy having a cocktail at various high-end bars and feast at exclusive, award-winning restaurants like the California Grill in the Contemporary resort, or Victoria and Albert’s over at the Grand Floridian. These restaurants are perfect for a date night out or a celebration of a special moment for you and your significant other. The Grand Floridian, one of the most well known deluxe resorts, also has a beautiful spa. The spa is a great way to unwind and de-stress, and it can also make for a very romantic evening with a couples massage. Not only are the deluxe resorts elegant, classy, and perfect for adults, they have great viewing areas for fireworks. You can see them from various locations on the properties, but my favorite has to be the Yacht & Beach Club and the Boardwalk. These deluxe resorts offer beautiful viewing areas along the sandy beach, perfect for a romantic evening.
8. Experience Disney’s Character in Flight
In the center of Disney Springs lies the world’s largest tethered helium balloon, the Characters in Flight. This beautiful hand-painted balloon soars 400 feet in the air and allows guests to have a stunning view of the Disney World Property. Riding in the evening hours also allows you to catch a nice peek of the fireworks as well and makes for quite the romantic evening. There have also been several proposals here!
7. Take a Boat Ride on the Lagoon
The beauty of staying at the Fort Wilderness cabins or the Wilderness Lodge is that there are boat rentals! Rent a small boat for smaller parties or a pontoon boat (which holds up to 10 people) boat and enjoy cruising around the seven seas lagoon and Bay Lake! Guests are also allowed to take food and drinks on the boat making it a great way to experience a unique setting to enjoy lunch or dinner while being on the water. Boats are not available to rent in the late evening, but they definitely make for a great late afternoon with your significant other. If you really want to take a boat ride in the evening, just hop onto any of the boats that are driven by cast members. These boats make stops at the Magic Kingdom (and some also make trips to other resorts).
6. Date Night at Disney Springs
Disney’s newest expansion, Disney Springs, offers over 150 shopping, dining, and entertainment venues. Formerly Downtown Disney, Disney Springs has several areas that are geared more towards adults with bars, nighttime entertainment, concerts, and dancing areas. You can also choose from exquisite, five star restaurants that are great for getting a little more dressed up (than what you would normally wear for a park restaurant). Couples will also love La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil, an extraordinary show that immerses guests into an acrobatic spectacle. This area and setting is perfect for a romantic evening on Walt Disney World Property.
5. Catch a Movie Under The Stars
If you’re staying at one of the Walt Disney World properties, take advantage of the complimentary nightly movies under the stars. Bring out your inner child by seeing some spectacular Disney favorites while relaxing outdoors by the resort pool or beach area. You can also grab a cocktail or beverage and take it with you to the movie making it a great way to unwind at the end of the day.
4. Hang-Out At The Boardwalk
The Boardwalk isn’t only a deluxe Disney World Resort. There is an actual quarter mile promenade that mimics the turn of the century boardwalks such as Coney Island and Atlantic City. Enjoy shopping, dining, recreation, and live entertainment at Jellyrolls (a dueling piano bar) and Atlantic Dance Hall (a club for adults only). The Boardwalk is decorated beautifully and in the evening hours, it is aligned with thousands of twinkling white lights. The lake that borders the boardwalk also connects to the Yacht & Beach Club and the Swan & Dolphin. You can also just grab a sweet treat at the bakery and take a stroll along the jogging trail that circulates amongst these three resorts. The Boardwalk walkways can be quieter than most places (at times) in the late hours of the evening making for a really romantic walk along the path. This is definitely a must-do on your next trip with your significant other!
3. Have a Romantic Dinner
With hundreds of restaurants to choose from, there is no better way to have a romantic evening than over a quality meal and some drinks! Walt Disney World resorts and parks are perfect for romantic meals. There are so many places to choose from if you’re looking for a romantic evening out. The deluxe restaurants in the Magic Kingdom resort areas offer stunning views of the Magic Kingdom, and some even sync the music that is played during the firework finale! This way you can enjoy a tasty meal and a show right from your seat. There are also restaurants in other resort areas that offer fine dining such as Shula’s Steakhouse & the Yachstman Steakhouse (Epcot resort area), Jiko (Animal Kingdom Area) and several restaurants in Downtown Disney, just to name a few. If you’re looking for a very romantic in-park dining experience, head on over to Epcot! Almost every country has a fine dining restaurant with authentic cuisine from their native homeland. Most of these fine-dining restaurants offer views of the World Showcase Lagoon, which is the host to one of the most spectacular firework shows, Illuminations. They are also beautifully decorated with dim lighting, perfect for a romantic evening!
2. Watch the Fireworks
Any firework show makes for the perfect romantic evening. Whether you are watching the show from a restaurant or just found a spot in the park to watch, there is no better way to spice up romance like watching the night-sky light up and hearing beloved Disney tunes.
1. Have a Disney Wedding
Saying ‘I Do’ at the Walt Disney World resort makes for the most romantic evening ever. Being able to marry the one you love and cherishing your wedding with all of your family and friends at the happiest place on earth doesn’t compare to any other way of sharing love. Disney weddings are truly romantical and provide an atmosphere that is absolutely stunning and exquisite.
