Disney Issues Two-Year Ban Following On-Stage Incident

A live Disney show was forced to pause when an audience member walked onto the stage and disrupted the performance. Security quickly stepped in, but the consequences for the guest extended far beyond being escorted out.

Theme parks have strict conduct rules to protect performers and ensure smooth operations. At Disney parks, those include bans on violence, harassment, dangerous behavior, and the use or presence of illegal substances. Other policies cover costume restrictions for adults, smoking limitations, and the suspension of ride operations during unsafe weather.

These rules are enforced pretty consistently across Disney’s global destinations, with one guiding principle standing out: guests must treat cast members with respect.

What Happened During the Show?

The incident took place in August 2025 during The Adventure of Rhythm, a stage performance featuring music, dance, and character appearances.

According to Chinese outlet Sohu, the man approached Mei Mei, the red panda from Pixar’s Turning Red, and tried to dance with the character. The video shows him making physical contact before security intervened.

Park officials confirmed the behavior disrupted the park’s normal operations, affecting the experience of nearly 1,000 visitors and violating its code of conduct: ā€œPlease respect the performers and other Cast Members (including Disney friends). Whether onsite or online, use civilized language, do not engage in any dangerous, illegal, harassing, or aggressive behavior.ā€

He was removed from the theme park and banned for two years.

The disruption adds to a string of incidents at the park. In May 2025, two guests were filmed fighting near a retail shop, an altercation that drew a crowd, including children. Last summer, extreme heat also caused a performer dressed as Tigger to collapse mid-parade.

More recently, two guests engaged in violence after one told the other to stop smoking in an area where smoking is typically not permitted.

The park, which opened in 2016, combines classic attractions with region-specific offerings. Popular rides include TRON Lightcycle Power Run (which has since also opened at Magic Kingdom), Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure, Voyage to the Crystal Grotto, and the newly opened Zootopia Land. A Spider-Man–themed area is currently in development.

The stage incident reinforces the park’s zero-tolerance stance on behavior that disrupts performances — even when the interruption lasts only minutes.
