A popular character meet-and-greet has been removed from the Mexico World Showcase Pavilion in EPCOT at Walt Disney World Resort. Construction walls now block the location, and the experience has disappeared from the My Disney Experience app.
Changes began last month when guests visiting EPCOT noticed the sudden appearance of construction walls in the Mexico World Showcase Pavilion. The walls stretched across green spaces and an area with tables and chairs, reaching all the way to the Norway World Showcase Pavilion. Tarps covered both sides of the walls to prevent guests from seeing the work taking place behind them. However, Walt Disney World Resort did not publicly acknowledge the disruption or reveal any details about what was being worked on.

This week, the mysterious project became more noticeable to visitors, as a popular Donald Duck meet-and-greet was removed from EPCOT's official character lineup. The 91-year-old character, dressed in a sombrero and poncho, had been greeting guests in this location for years, standing near a carved stone wall between the Mexico and Norway World Showcase Pavilions. However, the character experience has now been removed from the My Disney Experience app.
According to WDWNT, the construction walls have now been extended to cover Donald Duck's meet-and-greet area. Before the walls went up, the site reportedly showed signs of disruption, including scoring on the ground, suggesting that crews were preparing to replace the concrete.
While it's still unclear when Donald Duck will return to this iconic location, it's unlikely that the meet-and-greet is gone for good. Donald has been greeting guests at EPCOT in this area for many years, and if the character were to be permanently removed, Walt Disney World Resort would likely make a more official announcement.

On Tuesday, Donald Duck was seen greeting EPCOT guests in his classic sailor outfit in the lobby of the Magic Eye Theater in the Imagination! Pavilion. However, this encounter was not listed on the My Disney Experience app, and it's unclear whether this meet-and-greet will become a regular offering.
