Fans just said their final goodbyes to Muppet*Vision 3-D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios… but now, a new wave of speculation is giving those same fans a very real reason to hope.
Yes, the curtain came down on June 7, 2025. After more than 30 years, the beloved 3-D show—known for its witty humor, classic characters, and final stamp from Jim Henson himself—officially closed to make way for a new Monsters, Inc. area.
The last day saw long lines, tearful tributes, and even a few guests in Gonzo cosplay reliving their favorite scenes one last time. But in typical Disney fashion, just when something seems completely over, a new rumor changes everything.
Could It Be Coming Back Already?
With the Muppets confirmed to be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in 2026, many assumed that was the end of their park presence. But now, all eyes are on the Sunset Showcase Theater—home to the currently running Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After. That show may be charming, but let’s be honest… it also feels like it could be temporary.
Some fans are floating a theory: what if this new villains show is just a placeholder? The idea is that once the Muppets take over the nearby coaster, Disney could create an entire Muppet-themed corner of Hollywood Studios—and that might just include bringing Muppet*Vision 3-D back.
There’s Space—And Strategy
The geography makes sense. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, the Sunset Showcase Theater, and the nearby gift shop area all form a tidy little section of the park. Retheming this zone into a cohesive “Muppet Corner” would give Disney a fun, family-friendly area anchored by a high-thrill attraction and a returning fan favorite.
It would also solve a problem: the Muppets are a big part of Disney history and fan culture, but right now, their presence is scattered. A full land—or even a mini-land—could bring everything together.
Is It More Than Wishful Thinking?
At this point, nothing’s confirmed. Disney hasn’t announced plans to bring Muppet*Vision 3-D back (yet), but their strategy of phasing out shows only to reintroduce refreshed versions later isn’t new. And considering the timing—the coaster retheme, the new villain stage show, and the emotional farewell to the original Muppet*Vision—the stars are starting to align.
So while it’s too early to break out the confetti, Muppet fans have one thing they haven’t had in a while: a glimmer of hope. And at Disney, hope has a funny way of turning into magic.
Considering Jim Henson Studios is located directly off Sunset in Hollywood it would be a fitting tribute to create a mini land for them there.
