A trip to Disneyland Resort already comes with a hefty price tag, but some guests are literally throwing away their money—right into Pluto’s dog bowl.
A recent viral post on Reddit revealed that in the queue for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, guests have been tossing coins and even dollar bills into a prop designed to look like Pluto’s water dish. The original poster, who typically uses the Lightning Lane entrance, only noticed the pile of money after waiting in the standby queue.
“I usually take the LL route on MMRR, so I always walk right past this without noticing,” they wrote. “But yesterday, I stood in line and saw this and had a laugh. It reminded me of the bills that are thrown in Snow White’s chamber in the queue.”
A Surprising Disney Trend
The discovery sparked a discussion among Disney fans, with many pointing out the irony of guests discarding money at a place where everything is already so expensive. One commenter shared:
I love the idea of people who paid $1000 to bring their family into the park deciding that Pluto needs even more of their money.
But Pluto’s bowl isn’t the only unexpected spot in Disneyland where guests have left cash. Over the years, people have tossed money into various attractions, including the dungeon in Snow White’s Enchanted Wish and the waters of Pirates of the Caribbean. Whether guests see these areas as unofficial wishing wells or just enjoy the tradition of tossing coins, it seems to be a growing trend.
What Happens to the Money?
While Disneyland has never officially commented on this strange custom, similar situations at other Disney parks suggest the money is periodically collected. In some cases, coins tossed into Disney fountains and water features are reportedly donated to charity.
Whether guests are making a wish or simply feeling generous toward Pluto, it’s clear that some Disneyland visitors don’t mind parting with a little extra cash—even after already spending a fortune on their vacation.
