Pirates of the Caribbean Ride
The original version in Disneyland Park even has touches of Walt Disney himself. Despite its age, the popularity of the ride (and the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise) has remained in pop culture.
This past weekend at Disneyland Paris, the classic Disney ride was experiencing some problems. As shared on Instagram by @sparklesandscrubsrn, the famous ride broke down and kept park guests stranded for over 20 minutes.

Due to problems with the ride, Disney cast members were quick to the rescue. At first, they tried to keep guests calm but eventually jumped into the ride’s waterway to manually push boats one at a time.
The fire department came to the ride and helped assist Disneyland Paris guests safely.

It’s unclear at this moment what the malfunction was. However, the ride was recently refurbished last summer (2023).
Disneyland Paris Pirates
The Disneyland Paris version of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride is similar to those at Disneyland Park or Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort. It has a Captain Jack Sparrow audio-animatronic, a Davy Jones projection, and pirate after pirate causing mayhem.
However, slight differences exist, such as the order of scenes (the Paris version is often referred to as the “backward” version). This version also includes a Captain Barbossa audio-animatronic that swipes at riders with his sword and a drop through an exploding cave.

Pirates of the Caribbean in Disneyland Paris also has a similar set-up as Disneyland Park, in that the boats go past a nearby dining location. Although in Disneyland Paris, this establishment is called Captain Jack’s – Restaurant des Pirates (not to be confused with Disneyland’s Blue Bayou Restaurant).
Disney Fanatic will update accordingly as more details emerge regarding this story and the possible cause for the emergency evacuation.
