A recent surge in queries about parental controls on Disney+, Disney’s streaming service, had us questioning why this was the case.
Ever since the Walt Disney Company acquired various other entertainment companies—namely Lucasfilm, Marvel, and 20th Century Studios, the company has been making and streaming content that is less family-friendly and veers more towards adult-appropriate content. This is often for content warnings of violence or language.
When Disney’s Marvel announced its most recent release that will stream on both Hulu and Disney+, many were quick to note the maturity rating for the show.

Disney’s Echo Raises Cause for Concern Among Fans
Considering fans previously noted that Echo was for mature Marvel fans and was one of the darker, grittier shows from Marvel and Disney, it’s no surprise that some have wanted to make sure they can protect children from inappropriate content in the show.

However, this isn’t the first time fans have felt content on Disney+ warrants more careful parent controls. Towards the end of last year, on December 24, 2023, fans when they noted Cardi B’s concert was available to stream on the platform.

How Do I Change My Disney+ to 18+?
As explained by Internet Matters:
Step 1 – On the profile selection page, select “Edit Profiles” and choose which profile you’d like to set a maturity level on.
Step 2 – At the bottom of the profile page, find “Content rating” under “Parental Controls”.
Step 3 – Choose which maturity level you would like for the profile.
How Do I Turn Off Parental Controls on Disney+?
Essentially, what this question is asking is how to allow access to all content on a certain profile. The good news is the default should have this toggled on unless you set up special settings to use content ratings restrictions.
Along long with this, set up a kids profile through profile settings on your Disney account. While setting up users for the app, you can choose to make one of the profiles for kids exclusively. Just click “Add Profile,” and while setting it up, click on “Kids profile.”
This will immediately protect children from mature content that is unsuitable for them. This will also help you keep your own profile flexible and open to various types of content you might enjoy.
At the same time, you can also set a pin for your own profile, to stop children from accessing mature content and effectively utilize the content ratings restrictions.
How to Set Up a Pin?
After signing into your Disney account, on your profile selection page, select “Edit Profiles” and choose which profile you’d like to set a pin for. At the bottom of the profile page, you will find “Profile PIN” under “Parental Controls.” Here is where you can set a four-digit PIN and toggle the option to limit who can use this profile.
