Memorial Day weekend was an exciting time at The Walt Disney World Resort as the main focus was pulled towards the official opening of the new indoor roller coaster, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. But we know now that in another part of the property, another incident was underway and the mood was not so fun.
According to Fox35 Orlando, Aaron Josue Lopez of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, was caught attempting to enter the shopping and dining district Disney Springs with a gun, two magazines, ammunition, and a knife in his backpack. Police reports indicated the incident occurred in the Orange Parking Garage at around 10 pm on May 27.
Fox35 states:
Lopez told Disney security that he had a folding knife in his bag, but hadn’t put it on the table. He then reported told the security officer, “Oh there’s something else in here besides a knife that I wanna put back in my car,” and then turned around and walked away.
OCSO said there was no serial number on the gun and one could not be found for Lopez in various databases. Lopez said it was a “clone gun” and that he had to submit paperwork to the state to have a serial number assigned, according to the report.

All weapons such as knives and guns are not permitted on Walt Disney World Property, and the discovery of such weapons–even if you can prove legal ownership–will result in a run-in with Disney Security and, potentially, the Orange County Sheriff’s department.

It is unclear if Lopez had any intention of bringing the weapons into the Disney World Guest area or if it was simply a mistake.
