May the Fourth be with you.
Once again, we return to the unofficial holiday created purely out of the domination of puns in pop culture. Sounding as close to its anthem, “May The Force be with you,” as possible, May 4th has become officially known as Star Wars Day, giving the fandom’s masses an annual day to reflect and celebrate the franchise created by George Lucas.
What started as three movies and an infamous holiday special, Star Wars has exploded into a fictional universe that consists of several movies, television shows, video games, Theme Park lands and attractions, and uncountable amounts of merchandise and literature.
To honor the legacy and the die-hard fans, Disney has released a special montage from the movies and television shows–all of which are available to stream on Disney+, featuring classic characters like Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, and the Millennium Falcon as well as clips from newer shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars: Rebels and The Mandalorian.

Originally created by George Lucas’ Lucasfilm and distributed by 20th Century Fox, Star Wars has become a household name, inspiring Disney CEO Bob Iger to purchase the entire Lucasfilm studio on October 30, 2012, for over $4 billion.
While many of Disney’s decisions for expanding the saga have been questionable–most of all being the Sequel Trilogy to the Skywalker Saga and Solo: A Star Wars Story–they have also added some incredible elements such as the television series The Mandalorian, and The Bad Batch, as well as the creation of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and coming soon to Walt Disney Studios Park.

Several Star Wars series and movies are still in the pipeline, including a Mandalorian Movie and Ahsoka series. But it is unclear at this time how the current writers strike will affect the rollout of those projects.
We at Disney Fanatic will continue to update our readers on Star Wars news and stories as more developments come to light.
