On January 20, 2025, President Trump signed an executive order titled “Restoring Names That Honor American Greatness,” which mandates the renaming of several geographical features. Notably, the order directs that the Gulf of Mexico be renamed the “Gulf of America.”

The Disney Skyliner, a gondola system introduced in 2019, connects various parts of Walt Disney World Resort, including EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and multiple resort hotels. The Disney Skyliner Resort hotels include Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Riviera Resort, and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.

During the ride, guests are treated to pre-recorded announcements that provide interesting facts about the areas they are passing over. One such announcement informs guests:

“In just a few moments, we will be traveling over the headwaters of the Everglades. The water that flows from the protected wetlands around Walt Disney World Resort travels all the way to the Everglades, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Gulf of Mexico.”

With the executive order’s directive to rename the Gulf of Mexico, Walt Disney World Resort may need to update this announcement to reflect the new designation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal guidelines.

As of now, Walt Disney World Resort has not released an official statement regarding potential changes to the Disney Skyliner announcements. However, given the prominence of the executive order, it’s plausible that updates will be made to align with the new naming conventions.

Although Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t made any announcements about the Disney Skyliner spiel, President Trump has a growing presence at the Central Florida Disney parks. Magic Kingdom Park recently closed its Hall of Presidents attraction to make way for Trump’s animatronic to once again take center stage.

  1. Disney is constantly going through many changes so I wouldn’t think it would be that difficult to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of AMERICA in its announcement on the Gondolas!! New President, possible new executive order!!

  2. Stop over exaggerating!!!!! Disney make’s changes ALL the Time!!!! Now your just reaching for more social media fodder! Does anyone really care if Disney has to change the recording on the gondolas?

  3. It’s disgusting, that a crazy individual should be allowed to do so. He cannot change geography! Shouldn’t be allowed to interfier with such things..
