Disney’s All-New ‘Toy Story’ Hotel Is Now Open!

Themed hotels are not a new concept to Disney parks and resorts, but this new Toy Story resort certainly takes Disney’s immersive theming to the next level! Taking cues from Toy Story areas in Disney theme parks as well as from iconic moments from the hit 1995 Disney and Pixar film, the Tokyo Disney Resort Toy Story Hotel is now open to Guests, and we can’t wait to take you inside!

The Disney Parks Blog just shared photos from the opening of the Tokyo Disney Resort Toy Story Hotel that showcase the resort’s expertly themed accommodations and recreational areas that all capture the whimsical nature of Pixar’s Toy Story franchise. The new resort includes 595 Guest rooms and 11 stories, and with its opening today, Tokyo Disney Resort now has five Disney-themed resorts onsite for Guests to choose from. The Tokyo Disney Resort Toy Story Hotel is the first moderate resort to join the lineup.

As Guests arrive at the resort, they will find memorable designs and motifs from the films including clouds inspired by the wall art in Andy’s room and larger-than-life figures to make Guests feel as though they have been shrunk down to the size of a toy. Like any element in a Disney park or resort, Imagineers have crafted a backstory for the Tokyo Disney Resort Toy Story Hotel, which shares that Andy assembled the hotel himself so his toys would have a place to stay while he heads off to Cowboy Camp.

Back to the entrance of the hotel, nearby Guests will find Slinky Dog Park which is a celebration of the joy of playing with toys, an area that is sure to make Guests nostalgic for their favorite childhood toys. Here Guests will see action figures of Jessie and Buzz Lightyear (standing almost 12 ft. tall for honorary toys!) as well as a massive Slinky Dog game board.

The resort’s lobby features slot car race tracks overhead (and cars racing!) as well as artwork of a Bo Peep board fame on the ceiling. Around the lobby, bright furniture follows the color scheme and style of the films while puzzle pieces can be spotted around the floor.

Nearby, Guests can visit Gift Planet, inspired by Pizza Planet where Aliens oversee this elaborate retail operation stocking Toy Story Hotel exclusive merchandise.

From the lobby, the resort has two wings, with one side themed to Buzz Lightyear and the other to Woody’s Roundup. The hallways and public areas in each wing follow colors and designs consistent with each theme, while the inside of each Guest room is inspired by Andy’s bedroom. The TV set actually being inside a giant Etch-A-Sketch is a really fun touch!

For eats, Guests can head to the Lotso Garden Café, which is a buffet-style restaurant offering up delicious Toy Story-inspired treats.

The back of the resort faces Tokyo Bay, where Guests can walk upstairs by an oversized Hamm to enter Toy Friends Square. There, they will find oversize figures of Woody and Bo Peep, Bo’s sheep (Billy, Goat, and Gruff), Wheezy the  penguin, and a number of other favorite toys from Andy’s room.
