The conspiracy theory surrounding Walt Disney World’s Trump animatronic has resurfaced online, so we decided to do a little deep dive into its origin.

Numerous conspiracy theories and rumors have circulated online over the years. From Cinderella Castle catching fire and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sending the National Guard to block entrances to Disney World, some strange stories have found purchase with audiences online.

Now, another one that originated in 2017 and resurfaced in 2021 has reappeared online: the Disney Trump animatronic conspiracy.

What is the Disney Trump Animatronic Conspiracy?

Simply put, the Disney-Trump animatronic conspiracy is simple: many believe that Walt Disney World assumed Hillary Clinton would win the 2016 presidential election (and as many would remember, she was also favored to win); however, former POTUS Trump surprised many and cinched a historic victory.

But, since Disney World assumed Hillary Clinton would win the election, they’d already fashioned an animatronic in her likeness for their attraction. When Donald Trump won, however, Disney hurriedly modified the Clinton animatronic to represent Trump more.

The theory resurfaced online recently when a fan shared a photo on X, formerly Twitter, that had the caption, “The only conspiracy theory I believe in is that Disney’s Trump animatronic for Hall of Presidents was originally made as a Hillary animatronic.”

Many users on social media agreed with the fan, and many even pointed out the visual resemblance so clearly on display.

In fact, after this theory began circulating, one anonymous Disney Imagineer reportedly confirmed the theory in a private message to writer Alex Goldman.

As Indy100 reported, “The source claimed in order to reduce how long it would take to install a new animatronic, Disney presumptively began working on a Clinton animatronic.”

“I remember seeing the facial designs for the Hillary animatronic at least six months before the election, and an intern asked the 3D artist what would happen if Trump won, and he laughed and just said, ‘Then, we’re screwed,’” Goldman wrote on a Substack post.

Is Donald Trump in the Hall of Presidents at Disney World?

As fans would know, after President Trump won the 2016 election, he was added to the Hall of Presidents attraction. His animatronic made its debut when the attraction reopened on December 19, 2017.

Of course, it’s important to note all of this is speculation, as Disney would never confirm or deny a rumor like this. Regardless, it’s fun to speculate about the origins of stories such as these!
