One of the most iconic parts of Walt Disney World Resort is the geodesic sphere that sits at the entrance to EPCOT — which many guests compare to a giant golf ball. The sphere is home to Spaceship Earth, a slow-moving attraction that takes guests through the history of language and communication, starting with the cavemen. The attraction is narrated by the incredible Dame Judy Dench.
In recent years, Disney began creating light shows that would be shown on Spaceship Earth. Special projections and music have been used during the International Festival of the Arts, Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration, and more.
On November 22, Disney will release its newest animated movie, Wish. And to celebrate the film’s premiere, Disney will be showing a brand-new light show on Spaceship Earth, starring Star (the name of the star) in Wish!
STARting November 22nd, Spaceship Earth will illuminate the EPCOT sky with special colors & lights featuring the brand-new song, “I’m a Star,” now available from #Wish – in theaters November 22nd! Tag someone who makes YOU feel like a star below and share this dazzling new tune!

Disney has not said how long the new Wish show will be shown on Spaceship Earth.
Disney Going Back to Its Animation Roots
Wish will tell the story of Asha, a teenage girl who lives in the Kingdom of Rosas — a place where wishes come true.
Rosas is ruled by King Magnifico, a man who has the power to grant wishes. The people of Rosas let King Magnifico take their wishes and grant them when he sees fit. Asha gets a job working with him and realizes that many of the wishes will not be granted. However, the people will have no idea that their wish wasn’t granted because they don’t remember the wish once they give it to him.

Asha wants the King to return the wishes that he won’t grant, but he refuses. So, Asha makes a wish on a shooting star, so she can help the people who live in the kingdom.
Asha’s wish is so powerful that a wishing star comes down to Earth to help her — a star named Star. From there, chaos (and some hilarity) ensues as Asha tries to help her people, but also stay hidden from the powerful and evil king.
You can watch the trailer for Wish below.
Wish will star West Side Story and Hamilton actress Ariana DeBose as the voice of Asha. Chris Pine will voice King Magnifico, Alan Tudyk will be the voice of Valentino (Asha’s goat), and Jennifer Kumiyama will voice Dahlia, Asha’s best friend.
Wish was directed by Chris Buck — who is known for directing Frozen (2013) and Frozen II (2019) — and Fawn Veerasunthorn, who was the head of story for Raya and the Last Dragon (2021). The film was written by Chris Buck, Jennifer Lee — who wrote Frozen, Frozen II, Wreck-It Ralph (2012), and Zootopia (2016), and Allison Moore.
Wish was made to celebrate 100 years of Disney animation and will hit theaters nationwide on November 22. Some theaters will be releasing the film early, on November 18.
