Disney World Skips Halloween, Christmas Begins October 29

It looks like spooky season has been cut short at the Most Magical Place on Earth, where the pumpkins are already being swapped out for poinsettias. Just days before the official end of Halloween, Walt Disney World Resort has officially shifted into full holiday mode, with Christmas décor appearing across multiple theme parks and resort areas as of October 29.

While Halloween festivities technically continue at Magic Kingdom Park through October 31, guests visiting this week have already spotted Christmas trees, garlands, and wreaths going up throughout the resort. Disney cast members began the massive holiday transformation early this week, working overnight to install machinery for the snow-like “snoap” effects that fill the air during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

According to WDWNT, crews have already installed the snoap machines on Main Street, U.S.A., signaling that the holidays are just days away from taking over completely. Walt Disney World Resort is known for transforming its parks into a winter wonderland overnight, with cast members transforming the entire property within a matter of hours once Halloween officially ends. This year, however, the process appears to have begun even earlier than you might think.

Despite two Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party events still scheduled for October 30 and 31, Halloween is already fading fast at the Most Magical Place on Earth. Disney has begun removing autumnal decorations in multiple resort locations, replacing them with festive displays and twinkling lights ahead of the first Christmas events of the season.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party officially begins on November 7 at Magic Kingdom Park, while Disney Jollywood Nights returns to Disney’s Hollywood Studios on November 8. Guests visiting in late October are already witnessing the Central Florida Disney park’s transition between the two holidays.

The transformation isn’t limited to Magic Kingdom. At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, guests have spotted new decorations being added around Echo Lake and Hollywood Boulevard. X (formerly known as Twitter) user @DisneyStarr8 wrote:

Same at Studios. Lots of lights installed in bushes, snips machines, Xmas banners, etc. ❤️🎄🎅🧑‍🎄.

Disney Springs is also jumping into the holiday spirit. On Monday, X user @Attractions posted photos showing covered window displays at the World of Disney store, suggesting that a change was underway. Just two days later, the same user shared an update showing that the Halloween decorations had been removed and replaced with Christmas trees. Festive window displays are still underway.

Walt Disney World Resort typically completes its Christmas transformation by the first week of November, ensuring the parks are ready for guests arriving for the earliest holiday events. However, one popular seasonal tradition won’t return this year — the life-sized gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The Disney Resort hotel confirmed that the display will not be built in 2025 due to ongoing lobby construction.
