Guest Found Floating in Fenced-off Pond at Disney World’s EPCOT

A new viral video has sparked debate after showing a Walt Disney World Resort guest inside one of EPCOT’s restricted waterways. The incident, which took place in the Canada Pavilion within World Showcase, shows a Disney Park guest swimming in a decorative pond that is clearly fenced off.

In a viral TikTok video shared by @bentonharborbutcher, the Walt Disney World Resort guest can be seen jumping into the fenced-off pond and swimming around while other park visitors look on. The individual, who appears to be wearing sensory-friendly headphones, is seen after entering the restricted area by climbing or jumping over the fence that surrounds the pond.

In the clip, several guests react in disbelief as the swimmer moves through the water. Spectators in the comments suggested the young guest may have special needs, citing the noise-canceling headphones he wore during the incident, although that has not been confirmed.

A Pattern of Guest Misbehavior

The EPCOT swimming incident is just the latest in a string of similar situations across Walt Disney World Resort. Guests have repeatedly been spotted entering restricted water areas and decorative fountains despite Disney’s posted safety signs.

In October 2023, a man was trespassed from Walt Disney World Resort after jumping from a bridge in the Italy Pavilion into the World Showcase Lagoon for an alleged $6,000 bet. Guests have also been seen dipping their feet or even wading into fountains throughout EPCOT, despite access to the interactive, splash-filled Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, attraction.

Social Media Reacts

The new video quickly went viral, receiving over six million views and nearly 400,000 likes on TikTok. The clip has drawn thousands of comments, with users debating how Disney should handle the situation and whether the guest’s apparent special needs should affect any consequences.

“Where tf are his parents or his caretaker for one?” asked @starl0v3r_max. “And for two, special needs or not. Thats a bannable thing.”

“I have a 7 yr old who is severely autistic, this would never happen on my watch,” @mandak1319 replied. “Just no. There are so many preventative measures we have available. This is pure negligence!”

Others defended the family, noting that such situations can happen even under careful supervision.

“I have a 21 year old autistic son. You have no idea how hard it is to watch someone 24/7 every single second,” said @appleuser3962784. “They are aware you are watching and the split second you take your eyes off they will break away.”

“Do you seriously think this special needs kid deserves to be banned from the parks completely because he [wandered] off?” @gn420 commented. “Do you seriously think that is something Disney should do? Like really.”

It remains unclear whether Walt Disney World Resort took any disciplinary action against the guest or his family. Disney has not issued a public statement regarding the incident.

  1. part of me says” oh hell yes”, just to stop the bored normal teenager putting on head phones and jumping in, and the other side says definitely no it’s going to be just one of those things that have happened before. the evils we see with cell phone cameras (possibly those people filming everything should be banned)
