It’s the end of an era — at least for now. Disney has confirmed that the cherished Grand Floridian Gingerbread House, a holiday staple for more than two decades, will not be part of the 2025 Christmas festivities at Walt Disney World. The resort’s grand lobby, which normally plays host to the towering, sugary structure, is set to undergo major renovations that will sideline the beloved display.

Disney Scraps Christmas Display
For many Disney fans, visiting the Grand Floridian’s life-size gingerbread house has been a treasured tradition since it first appeared in 1999. Decked out with intricate hand-piped icing, chocolate accents, and thousands of gingerbread shingles, the house is more than just décor — it’s an immersive holiday experience. Guests flock to the resort each season to take in the stunning craftsmanship, snap festive photos, and enjoy the sweet aroma of fresh gingerbread wafting through the air. And, of course, there’s the added bonus of shopping for holiday treats from the fully functioning sweets shop tucked inside the display.
But this year, the gingerbread house will take a break. Disney explained that the lobby renovation leaves them unable to construct the elaborate display for the 2025 season. The Grand Floridian’s ongoing updates are part of a broader refresh across the resort, aimed at blending modern touches with the timeless Victorian elegance the hotel is known for. While Disney has kept most details of the lobby renovation under wraps, it’s clear they’re working to elevate the guest experience — even if it means a temporary pause for some beloved traditions.

Fans Express Dismay
News of the cancellation spread quickly, and fans didn’t hold back their disappointment. “Funny—Disney couldn’t schedule renovations to happen after the holiday season? This break in tradition is very disappointing,” one commenter remarked on social media, echoing the sentiments of many who make an annual pilgrimage to see the gingerbread wonder.

Still, there’s a glimmer of hope for the future. While Disney hasn’t confirmed if the gingerbread house will return in 2026, many believe the tradition will make a triumphant comeback once the renovations are complete. If anything, anticipation is already building for what could be an even more spectacular display in seasons to come.
In the meantime, Disney World visitors will still find plenty of holiday cheer across the resort. Other popular gingerbread displays, like those at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort, are expected to return, along with the usual lineup of festive events and décor, including the fan-favorite Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
As the Grand Floridian undergoes its transformation, Disney encourages guests to stay tuned for updates. Though the Grand Floridian lobby will miss a bit of its signature sugar and spice this year, the holiday magic at Walt Disney World is sure to shine on — keeping the spirit of the season alive until the gingerbread house can sweeten the scene once more.

Disney Scraps Holiday Display! Really! What kinda shenanigans are you trying to pull on readers? You could have just written the truth and stated the Gingerbread House will not be displayed this year! And you could have just stated that the reason was due to construction at the Grand Floridian hotel. SMH!
The only reason they are not putting up the display is that THE DISNEY CORPORATION IS STILL VERY “WOKE AND DEI”. They have consistently shut down areas of the park to change what Walt Disney had planned for his theme parks. This is horrible. Plus the prices are only for the “RICH”.
