It appears that Walt Disney World Cast Members have thought it necessary to increase the intensity of their reminders to Guests to remain seated during a ride.
On Saturday, June 11, this reporter visited Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park to experience what is, in his opinion, the top attraction in all of Orlando, Avatar: Flight of Passage. But there was a noticeable change in how Cast Members addressed the Guests during the “boarding” process.
After the normal “briefing” video from Dr. Jackie Ogden, a Cast Member greeted us by providing a much more detailed explanation of the overall ride experience. She emphasized that we would be suspended in the air during the potentially nauseating experience and that anybody who was prone to motion sickness or anybody who “cannot sit still for four-and-a-half minutes” should bypass the experience. And after everybody was strapped into their link chairs, a Cast Member came over the intercom to firmly say, “please remain seated.”

Just a few weeks ago, we at Disney Fanatic shared a story of one round of the 4-D experience constantly being interrupted by a Cast Member telling at least one Guest to remain seated. Regardless, the increased emphasis suggests that Guests’ inability to remain seated for their entire “flight” is a lingering issue.
