Disney Fanatics and frequent Disney visitors have been dealing with multiple announcements from the Walt Disney Company and the Disney Parks this week in relation to the increase in Disney prices. When multiple announcements are made, it can be easy to overlook some of the less blatant shifts in pricing — such as this change to not one, but two Star Wars experience prices — but now another change has been made to a popular Walt Disney World Resort ride!
This morning, we shared that Genie+ price increases had taken effect since the initial announcement yesterday about the change in Genie+ pricing. According to journalist Scott Gustin, the popular Star Wars attraction in Hollywood Studios called Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance “has always been priced the same as Genie+”. So when Genie+’s price increases, so does the price of the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Individual Lightning Lane.
Right now, the Individual Lightning Lane for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will cost between $15 to $22 per person in October instead of a steady $15. This might not sound like much of a change, but since most people visit Disney Parks like Hollywood Studios with their family members, the cost can add up.
A family of four people will now be paying $88 for just one Lightning Lane round on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance; a family of five visitors will pay at least $110.
With the changes that are being made to Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane pricing, Disney fans’ discontent only seems to be increasing. Disney Guests were already becoming increasingly frustrated with Disney vacations and their less-than-magical experiences.
Now, increased prices threaten to alienate Disney Guests even further — particularly Star Wars fans, since there have just been three increases in prices for rides or experiences that they care about.
Walt Disney World: With the Genie+ price increase, the price of *some* Individual Lightning Lanes will also adjust.
Example: Rise of the Resistance price range for month of Oct. is now $15-$22. However – no change this month to the max price for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ($11).
