Disney World Drops 6 Attraction Updates Guests Need to Know for 2026

Something feels different about Disney World in 2026. It’s not just one new ride or one big announcement grabbing attention. Instead, changes are happening everywhere at once.

Rides are being updated. Entire sections of parks are shifting direction. Even the way guests book their vacations is starting to look different. All of it adds up to a year that feels more transitional than anything Disney has rolled out in a while.

And when you break it down, six major updates help explain why.

Discounts Are Becoming Part of the Strategy

The first change doesn’t even happen inside the parks—it starts during the planning stage.

Disney is offering a limited-time free dining promotion for 2026. Guests who book a qualifying package with at least four nights and four days of Park Hopper tickets may receive a dining plan included with their stay. That could mean either quick-service meals or a mix of quick-service and table-service meals, along with snacks and a refillable mug.

The deal must be booked by April 30, 2026, and only applies to certain dates.

Alongside that, Disney introduced a 4-Day, 4-Park Magic Ticket and multiple hotel discounts. It’s a clear sign that Disney is using targeted offers to keep vacations appealing, even as prices continue to rise.

Buzz Lightyear Ride Gets a Fresh Start

Once inside Magic Kingdom, guests will notice one of the park’s classic rides returning with upgrades.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has been closed for months, but it’s coming back on April 8, 2026, with noticeable changes. Disney has updated the ride vehicles, redesigned the targets, and improved the blasters to create a more responsive experience.

A new scene and on-ride photos are also being added, giving the attraction something it’s never had before.

These changes should make the ride feel more modern without losing what made it popular in the first place.

EPCOT Introduces a New Soarin’ Film

EPCOT’s update focuses on a familiar ride with a new twist.

Starting May 26, 2026, Soarin’ Across America will debut as part of a celebration tied to the country’s 250th anniversary. The new version will take guests across the United States, showing off a mix of landscapes and city views.

The ride system stays the same, but the updated visuals create a completely different experience.

Big Thunder’s Long Closure Nears an End

Back in Magic Kingdom, one of the park’s most recognizable rides is getting ready to reopen.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has been closed since early 2025 for an extended refurbishment. Disney has been working on upgrades throughout the attraction, including updated effects and enhancements designed to improve the ride experience.

The coaster is expected to return in early May 2026, though Disney hasn’t yet locked in a specific date.

Bluey Brings Something New to Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom is taking a different approach with its latest addition.

Beginning May 26, 2026, Bluey’s Wild World will arrive at Conservation Station. Guests will be able to meet Bluey and Bingo, play games inspired by the show, and explore animals tied to Australia.

The experience also includes a hands-on area called Jumping Junction.

Disney has indicated that the offering will continue beyond its initial summer rollout, potentially lasting longer than expected.

Hollywood Studios Reworks a Full Area

Hollywood Studios is undergoing one of the more noticeable changes.

Animation Courtyard has closed and is being transformed into the Walt Disney Studios Courtyard. The first phase opens on May 26, 2026, introducing a new Disney Jr. show, updated character interactions, and animation-focused experiences.

Guests will also be able to learn how to draw Disney characters in a refreshed creative space.

A new version of The Magic of Disney Animation is planned as part of this overhaul, but it won’t arrive until later in summer 2026.

Everything Adds Up in 2026

Individually, each of these updates might seem manageable. Together, they paint a much bigger picture.

Disney World is adjusting how guests experience the parks, from the moment they book a trip to the rides they step onto. With so many updates landing in 2026, the year feels less like a single change and more like an ongoing shift.

And while that may require a little more planning, it also opens the door to a different kind of Disney World experience—one that continues to evolve in real time.
