There’s no gentle way to say it: one of the most iconic corners of Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been absolutely leveled.
What once housed MuppetVision 3D*—a hilarious, heartfelt, and classic experience—is now a construction zone full of twisted metal, broken concrete, and sadness. And fans who’ve seen the new images can’t believe how fast it all happened.
Remembering the Muppet Magic
For over three decades, MuppetVision 3D* was a staple. It was one of the last creative projects overseen by Jim Henson before his death and stood as a tribute to his vision. Between the clever 3D gags, the surprise appearances by Sweetums, and the unforgettable pre-show, the experience captured the spirit of The Muppet Show in the best way possible.

Its closure earlier this summer didn’t hit many fans until now. Why? Because photos of the demolition just dropped—and the reality of what’s gone is hitting hard.
The Aftermath in Photos
Forget minor renovations. This is total destruction. The charming façades, the quirky details, the Miss Piggy fountain—it’s all gone. Only a few walls remain from the Stage 1 Company Store. The rest looks like a forgotten construction site.
It’s jarring to see in person, but even more jarring in pictures. Aerial views circulating on social media show the full extent of the wipeout. Parkgoers are using words like “brutal” and “a crime” to describe what’s been done. And honestly? They’re not wrong.

What Disney Is Building Instead
So why bulldoze such a beloved attraction? Disney is making room for a brand-new Monsters, Inc. land, complete with the company’s first-ever suspended coaster. The attraction will recreate the door-hopping madness of the original Pixar film, and insiders say it’s one of the most ambitious new rides in the pipeline.
Sure, that sounds exciting. But for many longtime fans, it feels like the end of an era just to begin a new one. And with the demolition site sitting front and center in Hollywood Studios, it’s impossible to ignore.
Is This Really the End for the Muppets?
Disney says no. A new Muppets-themed coaster is coming to Sunset Boulevard, replacing Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster. That’s great news—but it’s not the same. The charm of MuppetVision 3D* was in its authenticity. It wasn’t just inspired by the Muppets. It was the Muppets.
Even with a wild coaster coming down the line, many fans fear the heart and humor that made the Muppets special is being traded for something louder, flashier, and easier to sell to a new generation.

The Rubble Tells the Story
Sometimes, a pile of debris tells you everything you need to know. This demolition didn’t just remove a building—it erased a memory for countless fans. Whether you laughed through the “penguin orchestra” or ducked during the cannonball finale, MuppetVision 3D* was more than just another show. It was a memory factory.
And now? It’s a pile of dust.
As Disney pushes forward with new lands and new thrills, many are left wondering: will the future ever feel as special as the past?
