Disney World Guests Can See a Major EPCOT Change From November 14

Guests visiting EPCOT’s France Pavilion will find a familiar attraction in a new form. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, the trackless dark ride that has been part of the park since 2021, reopened on November 14 after a short refurbishment.

For four years, visitors shrank to the size of a rat and joined Remy in a sprint through Gusteau’s kitchen, complete with 3D visuals, wind effects, and water sprays. November 9 was the last day this original version could be experienced. The attraction closed on November 10 for scheduled updates, giving Disney time to prepare the ride for its next chapter.

The main change comes in the ride’s visual system. Imagineers converted the attraction from 3D to 2D projection, eliminating the need for glasses while improving clarity and consistency throughout the show scenes. The update also supports easier maintenance, simpler operations, and better accessibility for all guests.

Other enhancements extend into the queue and ride spaces. New props are being added, and lighting is being refreshed to modern standards. These updates aim to provide a clearer and more reliable presentation while leaving the story and ride layout unchanged. Guests can continue to follow Remy under tables and through the busy kitchen, experiencing the same sequence of events that made the attraction popular.

Disney confirmed the updates on its website: “Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will experience a short downtime Nov. 10-13, 2025, and will return with enhanced digital visuals and clearer imagery projected in 2D. Remy’s fans will spot new props and lighting enhancements when they are added to the queue and attraction over the next few months.”

Visitors who return to EPCOT now will find a ride that retains its original spirit while offering a more accessible and streamlined experience. The core elements—the chaos of the kitchen, the thrill of chasing Remy, and the immersive environment—remain unchanged, but the visuals and lighting have been subtly refined for future guests.

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
