The Walt Disney World Resort president who shepherded the Florida vacation destination through one of its most transformative periods is heading for the exit.
Three Dozen Years, One Announcement

After speaking with his team on Monday, Jeff Vahle took to LinkedIn to share the news with the wider world. His post read:
“Today, I shared with our team that after 36 years with Disney, I'll be retiring this summer.
I started my career as an engineer at Magic Kingdom, and I'm wrapping it up with the best job ever, leading Walt Disney World into a period of remarkable growth in partnership with our incredible Cast Members and community.
I'll be here through late July, so I'll save the reminiscing for later. In the meantime, there's a lot ahead, from launching Cool KIDS' Summer to opening Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets and an updated Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
It's an exciting time at Walt Disney World, and I'm looking forward to being part of it in the months ahead.”
The announcement came without warning from other corners of The Walt Disney Company. As of Monday afternoon, neither Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro nor any other company representative had issued a statement on the retirement, and no successor has been named.
Vahle came aboard as an engineer at Magic Kingdom Park more than three decades ago and worked his way up through the organization before assuming the presidency of Walt Disney World Resort in 2020. That transition came directly from D'Amaro's departure from the role — D'Amaro was elevated that same year to what is now known as Chairman of Disney Experiences, making Vahle his immediate successor. Given that history, a response from D'Amaro is widely anticipated as the story develops.
A Packed Final Chapter

Vahle's last day hasn't been pinned to a specific date beyond late July. Walt Disney World Resort has a dense calendar ahead, including the debut of the Magic of Disney Animation and Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Vahle is expected to see those milestones through while also preparing whoever Disney selects as his replacement to take over a resort during a significant growth period.
