Disney World Guest Sparks Debate by Going on Ride After Medical Emergency

A recent TikTok video has stirred up a heated discussion among Disney Parks fans about safety and responsibility during vacations. The clip, shared by Walt Disney World Resort guest Audrey Bennett (@audrey__3234), shows her mother on the Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios two days after undergoing emergency surgery. The decision has sparked a range of opinions online, with some applauding the mom’s resilience and others questioning the family’s judgment.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway replaced the beloved Great Movie Ride in the Chinese Theatre at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The trackless dark ride takes guests into a cartoon world featuring Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and more. Known for its whimsical storyline and gentle movements, the attraction has no height requirement and is deemed safe for pregnant mothers. While the ride doesn’t carry official safety warnings, the official planDisney site advises guests that it may cause motion sickness for some riders.

Despite the Walt Disney World Resort ride’s family-friendly nature, some moments—like the swaying and spinning in Daisy Duck’s dance studio—can feel intense for individuals with certain medical conditions. This aspect became the focal point of the viral video.

In the video, Bennett captured her mother enjoying the ride until Daisy Duck’s dance scene, where the ride vehicles mimic a choreographed dance: “POV: your mom just had emergency [surgery] 2 days ago and you thought she’d be okay to ride the Mickey and Minnie ride and then [Daisy] breaks out the CHA CHA.”

The post quickly gained traction, amassing tens of thousands of views, likes, and comments. Some viewers found the moment relatable and funny.

“Accidentally setting your mom up is hilarious,” wrote @dfw.kimmy08.

Safety Concerns Spark Debate

While many viewers laughed along with Bennett, others voiced concerns about the family’s decision to let her mom ride so soon after surgery. Critics pointed to the importance of heeding ride descriptions and warnings.

“You know the signs that clearly say not to ride if you’ve just had surgery,” commented @mother_of_moth.

“I may be stupid, but what is funny about this besides the people laughing?” asked @forgotten4today.

A Disney cast member even chimed in, urging all guests to prioritize safety. “Our main priority is safety! If we are in show, don’t be afraid to ask for the realism if safety is involved,” @pyroangel27 wrote.

In response to the criticism, Bennett clarified that the family didn’t ignore safety precautions and had spoken to a Disney cast member before boarding. “We asked a worker and he said she’d be fine,” she replied.

Fortunately, Bennett’s mom emerged from the experience without complications and enjoyed the ride overall.
