When you go on a Walt Disney World Resort vacation, you have certain expectations. You expect to see Mickey Mouse at some point and get on your favorite ride at least once.

If you’re heading to Disney World this time of year, you also expect high crowd levels for spring break. But your top expectation, especially if you’re coming from a northern state for spring break, is that you will get reasonably high temperatures.
Unlike heading down to Disney World during the summer, there is an expectation of pleasant weather during the month of March. When planning your week at Disney World, you expect the crowds, but you don’t expect what will happen next week.
Disney World and Central Florida have seen record-high temperatures this week. It has been in at or above 90 degrees for most of the past week, setting several records across Central Florida.
But Winter’s Revenge is coming and will send temperatures across Central Florida plummeting starting on Monday. Tuesday brings in the official start of spring, but temperatures will feel more like February at Walt Disney World.
The expected high next week will only be in the 60s, with temperatures dipping into the 40s during the middle of the week.
A large ridge of high pressure is expected to build in the west while a large dip in the jet stream will set up in the east, allowing colder air to spill from Canada into the eastern U.S. For Florida, the coolest days will likely settle in from March 19-21. Temperatures will be 10-20 degrees below normal for the third week of March. Average highs in the Orlando area for this time of the year are in the upper 70s, with average lows in the mid-50s.
Guests planning on a Walt Disney World vacation next week should prepare for those colder temperatures and with the changes coming, it will also bring rain to Central Florida.
The combination of rain, low temperatures, and crowds can make for a miserable experience at a Disney park, but the good news is that with thin information in hand, guests can plan ahead for closure of water attractions and theme parks.
Just remember, a cold day in Disney World is better than a warm day anywhere else.
