4 Disneyland 70th Anniversary Snacks We’re Not Exactly Excited to Try

Let’s clarify: we’re thrilled about Disneyland’s 70th anniversary menu. From vintage-inspired eats celebrating the park’s history to bold new treats made just for this milestone year, the culinary team has pulled out all the stops.

But as with any giant food lineup (there are over 70 new items, after all!), some snacks are bound to be more exciting than others.

These opinions are entirely personal, and hey, we’re always open to being proven wrong. But based on concept, flavor combos, and presentation alone, here are four anniversary items we’re not racing to the front of the line for.

1. BBQ Chicken & Pineapple Pizza Slice

📍 Alien Pizza Planet

We know this one will stir up the great pineapple-on-pizza debate, and unfortunately, we’re firmly in the “no thank you” camp.

Add a list of intense ingredients—BBQ-marinated chicken, roasted corn, pineapple, red onions, and cilantro—and it starts to feel like too many flavors fighting for attention. We love bold bites, but sometimes less is more, especially when you’re juggling churros and rides all day.

2. Vegetable Hearts Salad

📍 Blue Bayou Restaurant

This salad just doesn’t scream “anniversary celebration.” With baby greens, hearts of palm, cucumbers, tomatoes, and lemon herb ranch, it’s a safe and solid option—but maybe too safe.

Disneyland menus are often where creativity shines; this feels like something you’d find in a standard lunchbox. We’re all for healthy choices, but with so many inventive items on the 70th menu, this one doesn’t stand out.

3. Cotton Candy Mango Chile

📍 Various Outdoor Vending Locations

We were intrigued by the flavor—orange mango chile sounds delicious—but at the end of the day, it’s cotton candy, as in, flavored air with sugar.

Yes, it comes in a themed celebration bag, and yes, the Chile twist might surprise us, but calling this a “special menu item” feels like a bit of a stretch. We’ll reserve judgment for the first bite, but we’re not setting high expectations.

4. Mocha Cream Puff with Chocolate-Covered Corn Chips

📍 Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante

This one gave us pause. A mocha cream puff sounds delicious… until you add chocolate-covered corn chips on top. Combining airy pastry, coffee-cinnamon filling, and salty, crunchy chips feels more like an experiment than a celebration dessert. It will either be a genius fusion or an odd miss—we’re just skeptical enough to bet on the latter (but happy to be proven wrong).

We’ll admit it: we’ll still try everything we can from the 70th anniversary menu. That’s part of the fun! And who knows—maybe our next unexpected favorite is hiding among these skeptical picks. Disneyland has a magical way of surprising us, and the only way to know for sure is to dig in.
