Guest Nearly Falls Out of Disneyland California Ride

A Disneyland Park guest recently shared a heart-pounding experience from one of the Southern California theme park’s most thrilling attractions, Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye. The ride, known for its intense turns and immersive storytelling, created an unforgettable—and nerve-wracking—moment for one family.

Reddit user u/curtiskam recently recounted riding Indiana Jones Adventure with their quadriplegic cousin shortly after the attraction’s debut in 1995. The cousin, who often ignored ride warnings about back and neck issues because his condition “couldn’t get much worse,” was eager to experience the new thrill ride.

“Disney didn’t object and [cast members] helped us skip the line… and helped me get him out of his chair and into the ride,” the Redditor explained. With assistance, the cousin was seated in the ride vehicle, and the Reddit poster sat beside him.

As the ride began, however, the cousin quickly realized the danger posed by the sharp twists and turns. Without the support of his legs or a secure side door, he found himself at risk of slipping out of the vehicle.

Holding On Tight

“As the ride starts, he sees the car ahead lean out of the turn and [tells] me that I’d better hold on to him since his legs won’t hold him in the car,” the guest recalled. The Redditor held on tightly for the remainder of the attraction, bracing to keep their cousin safe as the vehicle leaned and jolted through its wild course.

Despite the nerve-wracking ordeal, the ride ended without incident. While the cousin never returned to Indiana Jones Adventure, he often remembered the experience fondly: “There’s nothing like fear of impending death to make a ride more exciting,” the Redditor joked.

The experience changed how the Redditor approached future Disneyland Resort visits. “From then on, I’d get Indiana Jones out of the way during early entry, and meet him for a cinnamon roll when the park opened,” they wrote.
