A vehicle fire broke out in the Simba Parking Lot at Disneyland Resort last weekend, temporarily impacting nearby guests as they exited the area. Images and videos of the blaze quickly circulated online, capturing the dramatic scene and sparking conversations among Disney Parks fans.
One guest, Redditor u/canOAir, shared a video of the fire, which they described as a vehicle that “burst into flames.” The footage showed the fire with recognizable Disney California Adventure Park attractions, such as the Pixar Pal-A-Round and Incredicoaster, in the background.
Car Fire in Simba Parking Lot
Another guest, u/WestSider55, shared a photo of the incident and revealed that they fled the parking lot in their vehicle during the blaze. They identified the car involved as a Hyundai Accent.
A Disney cast member, u/whyisreplicainmyname, confirmed that Disneyland Resort responded quickly to the fire, calling for help over the theme park’s radio system. While it remains unclear how long the fire burned, no injuries were reported.
What Caused the Fire at Disneyland Resort?
The fire did not spread to Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, Downtown Disney District, or any nearby structures. The incident was confined to the parking lot. While the blaze disrupted some guests’ departures, normal Southern California Disney park operations were unaffected.
The situation has led to speculation about the cause of the fire. Last year, Hyundai recalled over 3.3 million vehicles due to fire risks stemming from electrical shorts related to brake fluid leaks. One Disney Parks fan and Hyundai owner wasn’t surprised by the incident, sharing their experience with similar concerns.
“That checks out,” wrote Redditor u/dks64. “I had a recall notice last year and was told to not park my car in a garage or near a building because it could catch fire, even with the engine off.”
