Every day, nearly 50,000 people head to Southern California and visit the Disneyland Resort, AKA “The Happiest Place on Earth.” The theme park opened in 1955 and was Walt Disney’s vision brought to life. Because Disneyland Park is Walt’s dream brought to life, it holds a special degree of magic that you just can’t get at the other Disney Parks.

Unfortunately, on the morning of November 20, The Happiest Place on Earth was anything but. According to multiple reports and witnesses, a large lighting structure fell over and collapsed on top of guests at the beginning of Main Street, U.S.A. The guests reportedly suffered from injuries and were seen being carted away on stretchers.

A report from local news station KTLA shows the extensive damage from the winds in the surrounding area and says that three people were injured by the falling light fixture.

Pictures of the collapse were shared on X (formerly Twitter).

Disneyland’s hub is currently closed off and repairmen are digging in the dirt at the base of multiple lampposts, after a large lighting post toppled onto guests earlier this morning

In the picture below, you can see the lamppost fell on its side and could have critically injured a guest if it landed on them the wrong way.

NEWS: A lamppost falls over on Main Street U.S.A. at Disneyland. Multiple guests were injured. Several Cast Members and emergency personnel were present on site. It is unclear the status of the injured guests and how the lamppost fell over.

Some reports have indicated that one elderly female guest was hit in the head by the lamppost and had to be taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Thankfully, the woman was reportedly conscious as she was being wheeled out. Another guest was allegedly seen sitting on a bench in the area with a bandage around their head.

At this time, we do not know what caused the lamppost to collapse. However, there is a high wind advisory in effect for the area, with the Weather Channel warning guests that wind speeds could be between 30 and 40 miles per hour. There are also chances that the wind gusts could go as high as 75 miles per hour.

Guests traveling to Southern California during the fall should be aware that this is the time of year when the Santa Ana winds are at their strongest. Not only can the winds be so strong that they cause damage — like possibly causing a lamppost to fall over — but they can also make any allergies you have a lot worse because of the dust they kick up.

This is not the first time that a lamppost has collapsed at a Disney Park.

Last November, a lamppost collapsed at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort. The post collapsed on the ground, shattered, and glass went flying everywhere. Cast members quickly blocked off the area to keep guests safe while the mess was cleaned up. Thankfully, no one was injured in that accident.
