There are a lot of life-changing moments that can happen while on vacation at a Disney Park. Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and Disney parks around the globe have seen dozens of marriage proposals (although not at Shanghai Disneyland anymore) to a child’s first visit.

When a guest has one of these life-changing moments at a Disney Park, it becomes etched in their memories forever, and Disney becomes a large part of that memory. It’s part of the reason why most guests return to the parks year after year.

But recently, one family decided that they were going to create their own life-altering moment while on vacation at Disney, and it is raising some serious concerns about security at the parks.

A family was able to bring a smoke bomb into Disneyland Paris and subsequently set them off in the Central Plaza. The smoke bomb wafted pink smoke into the air in what appears to be a gender reveal ceremony.

Security at Disneyland Paris promptly arrested them and removed them from the park.

The original tweet, which was in French, from @DisneyPhileLive reads:

Latest gem for visitors to Disneyland Paris: a family decided to come and celebrate a special event by bringing and lighting their own smoke bomb on Central Plaza (in defiance of the rules). They were subsequently arrested by Resort teams.

Disney Security Concerns

While no one was hurt by the smoke bomb at Disneyland Paris, and it appeared from the video that the couple who set them off was only doing so as a part of a gender reveal ceremony, this incident raises more significant concerns about security at the park. More specifically, how could they get that smoke bomb past Disney security?

For obvious reasons, Disney takes the safety and security of its guests very seriously. The Disneyland Resort in Paris has a security and park police force that enforces park rules to ensure every visitor is safe while on park property.

All guests must also pass through a security checkpoint before entering any Disneyland Paris theme park, similar to the security at Walt Disney World or Disneyland, to check for banned items or weapons.

One guest who commented on the post said that Disneyland Park security found a small nail clipper at the bottom of her bag and made her throw it in the trash.

Disneyland Paris has not commented on the incident or how the visitors could sneak the smoke bomb into the park; however, one would imagine that this incident will spark a review of safety procedures at the parks.
