Disney Park Gives Guests Incredible Surprise, But Fans Remain Unimpressed

The Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort are incredible places to experience the Disney magic. Any Disney Theme Park at either Disney Resort is filled with amazing entertainment offerings; think rides and attractions like Space Mountain (currently Hyperspace Mountain in Disneyland) and Jungle Cruise, which allow Guests to have that quintessential Disney experience. One of the best parts of the Disney Park experience is being able to meet your favorite characters and immerse yourself in that world.

In that vein, some Guests got a wonderful surprise recently.

Star Wars Nite

As part of the Disneyland After Dark experience, Guests can “Enjoy Star Wars Character sightings, event-themed menu selections and exciting entertainment—including March of the First Order featuring Captain Phasma” during Star Wars Nite. Additionally. Park-goers can “discover special Star Wars-themed photo opportunities, merchandise.”

And many Star Wars fans had a wonderful surprise at yesterday’s Star Wars Nite at Disneyland Resort. Siblings Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia made a surprise appearance at Disneyland, and Guests could find them outside of Star Wars Launch Bay.

The pair were hanging out with R2-D2 in Tomorrowland. Interestingly though, fans were less than enthused about this. One shared:

With al the money Disney have, I’m sure they can afford better wigs, those are not even shake and go wigs, those are cheap plastic shiny costume wigs from #partycity

Another fan agreed with this judgment and chimed in, “Walked by them and thought they were just ppl dressed up.” 

A third added, “They couldn’t find a better look-alike? Way too tall! Artoo is way shorter in the movies…”

However, many fans also said they were “on their hands and knees” begging Disney to bring these characters to Galaxy’s Edge.

And this kind of remorse expressed over Disney’s treatment of Galaxy’s Edge was widespread. Another fan also said, “Imagine if they’d gone this direction for Galaxy’s Edge. Remember when you could trade with Jawas in Launch Bay? We loved that. We spend almost no time in GE because it feels like a strip mall with one ride that is hard to ride and closes early and one ride that isn’t that repeatable.”

While many were less than impressed with these characters, it was still certainly a welcome surprise for many who expressed their excitement at seeing the iconic pair.
