Magic Key holders hoping to celebrate Disneyland Resort’s 70th birthday in person this summer may be facing major disappointment. With July 17, 2025, marking the Southern California theme park’s official anniversary, Park Pass reservations have already sold out, shutting out thousands of Annual Passholders hoping to celebrate Disneyland70 on the big day.
Earlier this year, Disneyland Resort unveiled a lineup of festive offerings as part of its 70th anniversary celebration under the “Celebrate Happiness” theme. New Disney character costumes, decorations throughout both parks, a Sleeping Beauty Castle makeover, and exclusive merchandise and snacks are all on the way. Plus, several new and returning entertainment offerings are coming to Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.
At Disneyland Park, guests can look forward to the all-new “Celebrate Happy” cavalcade featuring Duffy, Shellie May, and their friends. “it’s a small world” will debut the “Tapestry of Happiness” projection show, plus new dolls inspired by Coco (2017), and a new verse by the late Sherman Brothers. On the park’s actual birthday, the “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” show will debut at the Main Street Opera House, complete with the first-ever audio-animatronic of Walt Disney himself.
Over at Disney California Adventure Park, the Disneyland70 festivities include the debut of “World of Color Happiness!”—an interactive nighttime spectacular featuring a Muppets preshow—and updates to Toy Story Midway Mania!. The “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!” parade will also return.
Themed events begin on May 16 and will continue through summer 2026. But for guests looking to celebrate on July 17, there’s a problem. As of now, both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park have no remaining Magic Key Park Pass reservations for that day.
Magic Key holders were able to begin booking reservations for Disneyland70 dates earlier this year, and the first day of celebrations sold out back in February. Now, the actual birthday has reached capacity too.
Only Inspire and Believe Key holders were eligible to reserve that date in the first place, with Enchant and Imagine Key holders blocked out. But even those higher-tier reservations are now unavailable. The Disneyland Resort website confirms that no Park Pass availability remains for either park on July 17.
Magic Key holders who still hope to visit the Southern California Disney parks on the anniversary might try checking for cancellations closer to the date or consider purchasing a single-day theme park ticket, though those may sell out eventually as well.
