Disney’s Be Well Provides a Dog Snuggle Break to Disneyland Cast Members

It is no secret that Disneyland Resort Cast Members work hard, and they have worked even harder through so many unexpected challenges throughout the resort’s reopening. Disney’s Be Well program helps support Cast Members in both their physical and mental health through Cast Member exclusive events and offerings throughout the year, and one of the latest events for Disneyland Resort Cast brought some furry friends along!

Earlier this week, over 300 Cast Members from around the Disneyland Resort were able to take a break from work and enjoy a visit with dogs and their owners from a very special nonprofit organization serving the local community. The Pet Prescription Team’s mission is to enhance quality of life through human and animal bonds, and for Cast Members who have been working hard throughout this holiday season, the dogs provided a needed break with some added stress relief and relaxation.

Disneyland Cast Member Nikki Valencia spoke to the Disney Parks Blog about her experience with the program saying, “I love it; the dogs are very calming.” Dog snuggles were the perfect break from the busy holiday season, and all of the Cast Members who experienced the event could be spotted with full smiles while getting to know new furry friends,

Wellness Program Manager Ryan Manuwa mentioned that, “Research shows that pet therapy improves the emotional well-being of individuals and helps reduces anxiety levels.” This time of year tends to bring on some extra anxiety, and the stress has been even more of a factor as of late for people working in customer-facing roles, like Disneyland Cast Members.

“Having this event at the resort provides a wonderful release and break for our cast members,” Wellness Event Manager Nancy Murray shared. “They can sit down, take a deep breath and hug a puppy dog.” And who wouldn’t want to do that?!

The Disney Be Well Team also had additional resources on hand at the event for Cast Members who may find themselves needing extra support this holiday season. Recently, at the Walt Disney World Resort, Disney Be Well hosted the first Cast Member, Friends, and Family 5K event since 2019.
