A surprise Star Wars installation has quietly appeared at Disneyland Resort, and it's already turning heads. Let's take a look at this intergalactic addition to the LEGO Store in the Downtown Disney District.
Chewbacca Lands at the LEGO Store in the Downtown Disney District

Laughing Place broke the news on May 11, reporting that a brand-new Star Wars LEGO sculpture had been installed in one of the display frames on the exterior of the LEGO Store in the Downtown Disney District. The piece centers on Chewbacca behind the controls of an AT-ST, set against a printed backdrop depicting the iconic forests of Endor from Return of the Jedi (1983). The outlet shared the first look on X, formerly known as Twitter:

The Star Wars sculpture fills the final empty yellow-and-white brick-shaped display frame on the store's exterior, slotting in alongside the previously revealed Avengers installation next to it.
Months in the Making

The Star Wars reveal is the latest development in an exterior overhaul that Disney Fanatic has been tracking since earlier this year. The project kicked off when the LEGO Store pulled its original Toy Story (1995) sculpture — a piece that had stood outside the building since the Downtown Disney District opened in 2001 — and replaced the surrounding facade with a series of yellow-and-white brick-shaped window frames designed to house new displays.
The unveilings have come in stages. By April 27, two of the three frames had been accounted for, with a Frozen (2013) statue and a Marvel Studios' Avengers display confirmed as part of the refresh. The Chewbacca and AT-ST sculpture now fills the third and final frame, completing the exterior lineup as it currently stands.
Questions Still Unanswered

What remains unclear is whether the LEGO Store has more changes in store beyond the three display frames now filled. There's been no announcement about whether Buzz Lightyear and Woody could return to the building's exterior in some updated form, nor has any completion date been shared for the broader refurbishment. Disneyland Resort has stayed quiet on the project throughout, offering no public comment on the ongoing changes.
For now, the store remains open to Southern California Disney Park guests while work continues around it.
